Anybody that has twins will know that even though they are usually born within minutes of one another, that is quite often where the similarities end. My seven year old twin girls are no different. They were at one point quite simply my superhero and princess with polar opposite tastes, but as the years have passed by I have noticed that their tastes are becoming more similar.
So when I was recently approached to review Shimmer Stars I was very dubious if R, one of my twins, would be at all interested. She really is not a doll person, but I was yet again going to be pleasantly surprised by her. I always knew that M would like Shimmer Stars because this was right up her street.
Shimmer Stars are pets that you can ‘Shimmerize’. Made by KD Toys, there are four to choose from: Pixie The Panda, Jelly Bean the Cat, Twinkle the Unicorn and Bubble the Puppy. Something for whatever your child’s personality is. The girls picked Bubble and Twinkle. Perfect choices for my seven year old twin girls.
The Shimmer Stars came wrapped up so I was hoping they got the right ones and amazingly by pure luck, they did! The girls instantly fell in love with Bubble and Twinkle.
The idea behind Shimmer Stars, as I have said is to ‘shimmerize’ them. It’s really easy with a special wand that you put a shimmer on and it easily presses onto your pet. You can join in by putting them in your own hair too! They come with hundreds of shimmers in different colours and comb out very easily. They also come with a matching headband and a tutu or scrunchie, a collar or bracelet so you can style your pet and of course yourself.
For me the best thing about Shimmer Stars was watching my seven year old twin girls imagination run riot. They provided hours of fun as they thought of different ways to style their pets but also themselves. It was super easy to put the shimmers in with the special wand and there was no mess or glue. The girls had a fantastic time and haven’t stopped playing with them.
