Summer Holidays

July 30, 2019

This year’s summer holidays are a little different for us as a family. My wife and I are having to share child care because we both work. This means that for us both to earn money, my wife will work in the mornings until about midday and then as soon as she gets home I will go out to work. Although I have reduced my workload dramatically for the duration of the summer holidays it is a difficult balancing act but we have to make it work as best as we can.

We have plans for the summer holidays this year which are a little bit different from the usual fully inclusive holiday abroad.

We are on occasion lucky enough to be invited to events through our blogging activities and if I’m honest, quite often we turn a lot of it down, but this year we have decided that we would take the opportunity to enjoy some of the blogging opportunities that come our way and this week one such event came our way.

We are off to the Wonderfest festival on the Isle of Wight where there will be plenty of music and fun to be had. We will be glamping which is the second time we have glamped, and it is without a doubt loads of fun and the girls love it. This will be the first time the girls have been to a festival and we are all looking forward to listening to the likes of Busted, The Vamps and Sigma. It should be a blast. The festival runs from August 1st – 4th tickets are still available here

Later in the month we are going camping to a site called River Dart in Dorset. This is also a collaborative event in conjunction with Millets who have gifted us a tent and many camping accessories. For me this is going to be a first I have never been camping in my life, not even as a child so there is a little bit of excitement and nervousness all wrapped up together, but I have to admit the tent is awesome. I only hope we can put it up at the site! It should be an interesting experience for me at least. Saying that my wife and our seven year old twin girls are super excited and they convinced me that camping is the way forward! Time will tell haha!

Every year we usually go abroad to a fully inclusive holiday where everything is laid up for you and all you have to worry about is getting to breakfast on time and enjoying time at the pool or building sandcastles at the beach. This means this year is going to be an experience of a very different type of holiday.

There are of course huge benefits of the types of holidays we are going on this year. It’s about getting outdoors as a family and enjoying time together, but most importantly making sure we have fun, of our own making I might add. There will be no tour rep or cabaret at night time to entertain us, except at the festival where there will be lots of music acts to entertain us.

I am really looking forward to this summer holidays as we do things that will be something we have never done before such as camping, and as long as the sun keeps shining we will be onto a winner.

What are your plans for the summer holidays? I would love to hear in the comments below.
