The annual duck race

March 26, 2016

Every year the girls school has a duck race down the stream that runs though the area that we live.

It’s a great idea because it’s raises funds for the school and it’s also fantastic entertainment for all the children.
This year was a little bit different for us as R and M were able to sponsor their own ducks and help them along by cheering them on with their duck whistles!

The race started at 3.45pm and we were about a third of the way down waiting for the ducks. The twins were very excited hoping to spot their ducks.
After a few minutes the first ducks appeared and woohoo!! M’s duck was in the leading group, but no sign of R’s duck!

We waited for a little longer before wandering further down stream.
When we arrived nearer the finish line the winner had been decided so it was a chance to look out for the girls ducks. They were paddling in the stream with their mummy which they thought was loads of fun!

My job throughout this was to try and spot the girls ducks and then they both came through at about the same time and the girls definitely thought this was cool!

We then went into the church hall to buy the girls a cake each as a treat.
The annual duck race is a fantastic way for families and local residents to get together to raise important funds for their school and have a great time too.
