The Tools And Other Products You Need When Painting & Decorating

I have been a painter and decorator for over 20 years and if there is one thing I have learnt over those years it’s to make sure that you use quality tools and products that make the job easier and give you the perfect finish every time. So here are a few tools and products that I believe if you use as a DIY enthusiast it will reduce the amount of time it takes to decorate, make it less fiddly and not leave the whole decorating project looking like a mess.

Over the last 20 years I have obviously built up the tools, skill and expertise to complete any painting or decorating job to the highest standard. I am always on the lookout to make my profession as a painter and decorator easier and also give a more professional finish. So here are a few tools and products that if you are a DIY enthusiast will help you to do any painting and decorating job even better.

1. Paint brushes

When you are buying paintbrushes to do any painting job, whether that’s emulsion or gloss painting, it really does pay to spend a little bit of extra money to buy quality. For example, buying brushes that have been designed to paint with different types of paint such as oil or water based paints. If you do this, not only will it take you less time to paint, it will be less messy because the quality paintbrush will hold the paint better and of course it will give an excellent finish as if it was done by a professional decorator. Don’t ever cut corners or price when buying your paintbrushes.

2. Masking tape

One of the most useful products you will need, and you will use a lot of when you are a painter and decorator, and believe me I have used miles of masking tape over the years and one complaint I have always had is the constant ripping of masking tape you do, on for example skirting boards where they meet the carpet and when you rip masking tape it never ever rips in a straight line.
