Tips for your Summer holiday with toddlers

June 11, 2015

In about two weeks time I will be flying out to Menorca for a family holiday.

On the holiday will be my wife, three old twins, 16 year old son, mother and myself, so initially I thought could I get a flight on my own, but unfortunately none available! I’m only joking!

Anyway here are my tips for getting to my holiday destination stress free!

1. It’s important that the toddlers know exactly what is going on and they are involved in the organizing of the holiday
2. You will need plenty to entertain them on the journey especially whilst on the plane journey. At the same time not to much! An iPad with some downloaded films on are always a good idea
3. Some games which are simple and not to big so they are easy to play in the confined space of a plane
4. Toddlers need to feel secure so it’s very important to take their comforters so they are at ease during their journey
5. As we all know we have to be at the airport early for check-in which messes with their usual meal times. Making sure that you have plenty of snacks and food for the entire journey is important because airport food is very expensive and generally not that nice!

6. It’s important to make the entire journey exciting for them and this is usually a great way of keeping them distracted and not getting bored therefore making the journey go smoothly
7. Remember you are going on holiday so everything is very different. Should your toddler want a nap when they usually wouldn’t let them! It’s holiday time!

Hopefully with all this in mind and being prepared you should be able to fly off on your holiday without stress.

If this all fails put your headphones on, close your eyes, turn on your iPod and shut out the world!

Happy holidays!
