Updating The Floors In Our Home

We have been in our home now for quite a while. When we moved in all the floors in every room were fitted with carpets. Unfortunately all the carpets were different and actually in some rooms the carpets were very dated, but due to finances we decided to put up with the carpets until we were in a financial position to change all the flooring at one time. That time has now arrived.

We have decided that we will be going with wood flooring throughout the house and this will be the same finish in every room so that every room flows naturally from room to room.

The main reason we have decided on wooden flooring is because we have eight year old twin girls and as everybody knows if you have young children they love to make a mess and on a regular basis they have accidents such spilling a drink. This is when wooden floors are a massive advantage because it’s easy to clean up and doesn’t stain as would happen if spilled on a carpet.

Of course with wooden floors it can give a feeling of coldness and an echoing sound when you are walking around. With this in mind we will be having rugs in every room so it doesn’t have a stark and cold feel especially in the bedrooms.

When coming home in those cold winter months, it’s always nice to open your front door and have that feeling of warmth. With wooden floors this can sometimes not feel very welcoming, so we will be getting a couple of hallway runners. Our hallway is quite long and runs nearly the length of the entire house so hallway runners will be a great way to break up the wooden floor and give a feeling of warmth when we get home at night from work.

There are many advantages to wooden floors. They are very easy to keep clean and dust can be kept to a minimum. If you have pets they are perfect when your pets are malting and cleaning up all the fur can be done quickly and easily.

The benefits of hygiene is also better with wooden floors, because carpets can have dust mites that you simply can’t see and all the hoovering in the world won’t get rid of them. A wooden floor will never give that problem.
