Vax Dual Power Pro Carpet Cleaner Review

When it comes to household chores, I find that my wife and I share the work load equally. Between us we have four year old twin girls and like many parents we experience our fair share of mess, accidents and the like.

When you think about what your carpets go through, it may make you question whether you clean them as much as you should, and I don’t just mean running a hoover over them. Over the years our carpets have endured quite a bit of mess.

Sometimes a hoover, spray of air freshener and some baking soda just won’t do the job! When I was recently asked to review the Vax Dual Power Pro Carpet Cleaner I was keen to accept!

The Dual Power Pro Carpet Cleaner is especially suitable for people who often have young children and pets, as it can tackle accidental spills, muddy footprints (and pawprints), stubborn food and drink stains and even pet smells.

It’s very easy to use; both for quick clean-ups of stains and spills or a top-to-bottom clean to restore colour and fluffiness to your carpets. It uses Vax Ultra+ carpet cleaning solution (included) which leaves the whole house smelling fresh and clean. And it’s really versatile, as it can also be used to clean your hard floors, stairs, furniture and rugs!


The cleaner arrived well packaged in a fairly large box. It did require some assembly, but it was pretty easy to put together. 

As you can see in the picture below the underside of the cleaner has strong bristles which make cleaning your carpet a breeze.

The dual power pro features:

To get started you need to add 40ml of the detergent and 100ml of water. On top of the cleaner there are two seperate holes. One for you to add the detergent and one for the water. You’ll then need to make sure the dial is turned to wash.

There are two buttons at foot level. One turns the cleaner on and the other releases the handle so that you can lower the cleaner to get started. The Vax Dual Power Pro Carpet Cleaner sounds like a hoover, but it’s not noisy. You’re able to see the water and detergent mix together which creates a foam.

Once you’ve washed the area you’re cleaning, simply switch the dial from wash to rinse.

The cleaner is pretty lightweight which is great because it makes moving it from room to room easy, as well as making it easy to push back and forth. Whilst using the cleaner, I could smell the detergent. It’s a fresh, clean smell, that was quite nice and not over-powering.

I used the cleaner on our bedroom carpet and as you can see from the before and after picture below, it has made a considerable difference to the look of the carpet. As well as removing some stains, which I think were mainly makeup stains, the carpet looks fluffier, cleaner and almost like new.

It’s actually quite surprising to see the results. We’ve lived in our current home, which we’re renting for almost one month now, and we were told that the carpets had been cleaned before we moved in. After seeing the colour of the water after using this cleaner, I’m not so sure they had been cleaned!

Overall, I’m very impressed with the Vax Dual Power Pro Carpet Cleaner. It’s quick and easy to use, and the results are very impressive. Would I recommend this product? Absolutely!
