We Have Body Issues Too: A Guide For Men
There is a lot of focus on women when it comes to articles about body issues. However, this isn’t a subject that is exclusive to any gender.

One of the reasons that women seem to deal with things better than guys do is because they do something that we don’t. They talk. They gather in groups, and they speak to each other, empathising, boosting confidence and most importantly listening to each other. They cry, they aren’t full of bravado, and they pull together to work out solutions. They also research and read about their anxieties. Women are much better at talking and listening. They also cry, which is something men are told isn’t manly at all.
Over the last decade, there have been many groups pulled together by men, for men to help us to talk about our issues more. This is something that we all need to do to create better mental health. So, if you are feeling insecure about your body, now is the time to open up, get talking and listening to your friends too. It can also be very helpful to have a fitness regime, so why not speak to a personal trainer to work out a fitness plan.
Talking is the first step when it comes to dealing with any problems. Feelings are a scary thing, aren’t they? Better to just sweep them under the rug and live around them right? Wrong. No matter how much you avoid looking under that rug, they will still be there—festering away. Feelings that you don’t address can cause issues in your personal life, especially relationships. So stop ignoring them and start dealing with them. If you aren’t ready to talk to your friends, then speak to a therapist. You can do this online or in person.
If you are still really concerned about the way you look, then there are lots of options. A common worry for men could be hair loss. FUE hair transplants can make such a difference if you feel you have anxiety because of it. Maybe you are concerned about your body and want to get more definition and muscle, speak to a personal trainer or if you are insecure then sign up for an app like CENTR and work out at home. Of course, if your issues require some kind of cosmetic procedure, then you need to ensure you have spoken about your reasons before doing anything drastic. However, don’t feel ashamed about making changes if you want to. Confidence in yourself is vital, and if you feel happy in your own skin, then you will make better choices and be able to communicate with others in a better way. Just make sure you have run through all of the possible options before settling on a nose job or liposuction! Once you have had surgery, you cannot go back.
Gaining sexual confidence is also important for many men. Many men suffer sexual problems and dysfunctions, such as erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation. These health issues can put a dent in a man’s confidence, and their adverse effects can bleed into other aspects of their life, including their relationships. Many keep silent about their health issues, choosing not to get treated. Avoiding the problem will not solve it; instead, it will continue to bother you and may even get worse. Speaking to a professional and getting medical treatment are necessary to overcome sexual dysfunction. There are also sexual aids and penis enhancing creams that you can try with your doctor’s advice. Don’t be afraid to seek options and get professional advice.
Men can experience all the same issues as women when it comes to their bodies, and there is absolutely no shame in admitting that. We need to come together and be strong enough to share how we feel and acknowledge if we are struggling.
