When to Put Up Your Christmas Decorations 

Well according to my wife’s gospel, it is ok to put up the Christmas decorations on November 26th. This is really strange for me as it’s my birthday on the 29th and I honestly can’t remember ever celebrating my birthday with the house totally decked out in Christmas decorations! Hey, what’s going on! Have you forgotten it’s my birthday tomorrow?!

It was very strange how it all happened. We went to the skate park because the twins R and M had been asking for weeks to go and the weather had been appalling, it seemed as the weekend came the rains came too.

Finally a nice, but very cold Saturday we set off to the skate park equipped with their helmets and scooters. The girls loved their time there pretending to do tricks which was really funny to watch. M then said can we have McDonald’s for lunch and we thought yeh why not! We will go to Asda first and McDonald’s is just across the road.

You may be wondering they must be going to Asda to get their food shop for the week. Not a chance! Haha! My wife immediately announced she wanted a Christmas jumper and of course the girls jumped at the chance of also buying Christmas jumpers.

We had only just got in the entrance of Asda and the girls and my wife had Christmas jumpers in the trolley and we were moving at high speed up the escalator to the clothing section. I turned around looked back and would you believe my wife had Christmas leggings in the trolley too, haha! There really is no controlling her around Christmas time and it was about to get worse as the day moved along!

I will be honest there is one part of the Christmas build-up I love, especially on a visit to our local Asda. I get to try on all the Christmas hats and have my picture taken! It’s actually become a tradition in our home, but then you get to put them back on the shelf. I know ! Cheapskate!

We finished in Asda and went over to McDonalds for our lunch and the girls loved it as a special treat.

We arrived home around midday and as soon as I drove into the driveway a customer rang with an emergency so I had to get straight back out. Just before I left my wife said I will get all the Christmas lights out and make sure they are all working. I really should have thought about this statement because an hour or so later when I got home, the house was beginning to look like a beacon for landing planes at our local airport! I’m sure the pilots look down and say to the passengers we will be landing in  five minutes, fasten your seat belts!

By 3pm the tree was decorated and there were Christmas lights in every room and my god, it’s only November 26th!
