Why My Six Year Old Twins And Myself Should Be Embracing Technology #ad

We live in a world where technology is constantly in the background helping us live our lives. Whether it’s catching a train where your ticket is available on your phone or going to the supermarket where you can paid for your goods using your phone. It really is a far cry from when I was young and just about everything was paid for in cash. The world really has moved on.

I’m a dad of six year old twins and they are growing up in a world that is already heavily dominated by technology. It’s exciting for them to see how the world will evolve, and in twenty years when they are making their way in the world how important technology will be in their lives. This is why I think it’s so important that we embrace technology as parents, and learn to understand it so we can teach our children how to be safe and enjoy all the benefits of modern technology.

When I was recently approached by Intel to review and try out the Lenovo IdeaPad 330S 15.6 Inch i5 4GB Laptop. I instantly thought yes, this will be fantastic to use as a family. You may ask what’s so special about this laptop, well let me tell you.

The first thing I noticed was this Intel powered device is perfect for us because it’s very responsive and is not going to break my bank balance, plus the Intel parts make it very fast and easy to use which of course is perfect for six year old twin girls. They are not known for their patience, haha!

The laptop has an Intel Optane Memory inside and in addition to having an Intel Core i5 Quad Core Processor, Intel’s latest Optane Memory technology is integrated into the laptop. So as a family we are getting to try out the Intel Optane Memory which is a completely new type of memory from Intel which goes beyond the processors we know them best for.

As I previously mentioned patience is not one of my twin girls better qualities. Most six year olds can’t wait when they want something. They tend to want it now, which is what I like about Optane Memory because it boots up the system in a snap, applications are launched without delay, and it can open multiple applications at the same time without freezing the screen. Now that is a huge plus. Optane Memory has many benefits and what I like about Optane memory is the very quick file search, and being able to switch between 4K files without stalling. This is definitely a moment when Optane Memory is helping me, as a blogger, because I am constantly switching between tabs so this is invaluable.

Keeping children safe online is vital in today’s world and we always use technology in a family room. My wife and I always supervise our six year old twin girls when they are using the internet, but we also embrace and involve ourselves in whatever activity they may be doing online. If you are going to keep your children safe you have to also understand and learn all about our modern technological world. We can’t shy away from the fact that the internet is here to stay and it’s only going to get bigger and better and I personally think that this is brilliant for the generation that my six year old twins are a part of, but teaching them safe use of the internet is so very important.

Introducing your children to the internet and technology at a young age is so important. It will be playing a vital role in their lives so being able to use a laptop with confidence and knowing the dangers the internet can have cannot be taught early enough.

  1. I agree Nige. I think that technology will change so much in the time when my girls will start using it in their everyday life it’s almost too difficult to keep up. However hopefully most of the advances will come in the background, like in this laptop you reviewed, and the changes to the ways we interact with technology will become more seamless. #ThatFridayLinky

  2. Yes, embrace technology as it’s only going to become a more technological world.
Looks a nice bit of kit. I’ve worked in IT for almost 20 years and I remember when IBOM sold their desktop and laptop PC business to Lenovo. Nothing changed much in reality. Their desktops were (and still are) pretty solid and good for business. I’ve never been a fan of their laptops though. This one looks like what many manufacturers are doing and going for a MacBook-esque look to it.

  3. Aye, got to introduce the kids to the Internet slowly and responsibly. That lap top looks considerably better than the one they currently use! Great review Nigel and thanks for hosting #thatfridaylinky

  4. I’m on my first Lenovo now and will probably be sticking with them – fast, easy and portable. As for Bean, I too have to broach the safe internet boundaries talk and setup – thankfully there a lot of easy to understand guides on YouTube for just this. I might add though, that use in moderation is really important – technology is so easy that we can fall foul of not having to try – <a href="https://dynamicdad.uk/how-to-dad/parenting/screen-time/"and not learning or achieving enough of our own true capabilities.

  5. I am going to be in the market for a new laptop soon and this sounds like a very reliable choice. I find as my children have got older it is them teaching me about how to use technology rather than the other way around. I am sure they think I am an old dinosaur! #thatfridaylinky

  6. That laptop looks fantastic, I really need to invest in a new one soon so I will definitely consider this one. You are right about us parents needing to keep up with technology for our children, I often talk to mine about new apps which they are using and games etc so that I know what they are doing and they enjoy teaching me all about it too. #ThatFridayLinky

  7. I’m an old man and slow to embrace new technology but it definitely is a different world that our girls are growing up in. Effort must be made to make sure that they have the tools to be able to keep up. Looks like a great product. I still love my desktop but have thought that there are a lot of times a laptop would come in handy #thatfridaylinky

  8. This looks like a great little laptop, especially the optane memory. My current laptop doesn’t work properly and keeps saying “memory full”.

Do you have the dimensions for it?
