4 Fun Summer Activities For Kids

August 11, 2021

In the summertime, it can be hard to keep the kids busy. Finding the perfect activities for them can be difficult because kids get bored easily. The best way to keep them interested and off of electronics is to switch up the activities. Sitting on the beach can only be fun for so long. Same with sitting by the pool. The perfect outing is one where your child will be physically, mentally, and educationally stimulated instead of the lack of stimulation from electronics. Here are a few activities to do with the kids that will keep them motivated and keep them busy.

Make Ice Cream

Why go out and buy ice cream when you can make it yourself. Ice cream machines are relatively easy to buy, and if you can get your hands on one, they are great to have. Making ice cream is also an effective way to bond with your kids. You can tell stories, have conversations, and work on something together. Whenever your child goes into the freezer to get more ice cream, it will be for something that you created together. Your kids will also get to learn new skills that they will always be able to use and build on.

Try Paintball

If your children are old enough, paintball is a great way to get them motivated to move and to use their skills of reasoning and strategy. Some places use a gas powered gel blaster, which may be fun for kids and adults to use. Paintball is also a way to show your kids teamwork and how working together to reach a common goal is something that they will use in their everyday life. Everyone is part of some sort of team whether it’s family, sports, or work. Being able to think critically and win is a great self-esteem building exercise as well.

Camp In the Yard

Camping in the yard is a fun activity that doesn’t require a lot of money. Most kids get a kick out of being able to sleep outside in their own backyard. Camping also teaches kids about nature. While out back, you can stargaze and teach your kids all about the night sky, constellations, and outer space. There are great apps that you can download that when you hold your phone up to the sky, you will be able to see what each star is named and where the planets of the solar system are. You can also build a campfire, tell ghost stories, and roast marshmallows all while creating memories that will last forever.

Take a Hike

Hiking is a physical exercise and mental exercise that is also educational. Your kids will get a great workout from a hike, which is awesome since most kids sit around on their phones. It’s also mental because they will need to concentrate on the path, follow the trail markers, and keep themselves alert. Educationally, they will see animals, trees, and plants making this activity a great science lesson as well.
