A week in DIY Daddy’s life.
Here is my week.
My week starts on a Sunday. It’s interesting because it doesn’t matter what day of the week it is, the girls always wake up around 6am.
Sunday’s are usually a quiet day. We may visit my wife’s sister or go swimming with the girls or sometimes do a bit of shopping at the local supermarket.
The day is always finished with the wife cooking Sunday dinner. We both think it’s important that the twins have a good healthy upbringing of eating good food at a table and to be honest we never have any issues in restaurants with them sitting down and eating unlike some children that I have in restaurants who can’t sit at a table for long.
Monday’s is the one day where I am left in charge of the twins all on my own. Eek!
No, it’s not that bad honestly, but I have to be honest I am very much an organised person bordering OCD. So on Mondays I have to do things in order otherwise the day doesn’t work for me. I will always go out with the twins somewhere weather permitting, although by the end of day I am knackered and can’t wait for the wife to get home!
One thing I will say about Monday’s is that I decided not to work on a Monday and I have been able to bond and have a wonderful relationship with my twin girls. My other children visit on a Monday too because they know that I’m at home. My 15 year old son always comes for tea on a Monday too.
Tuesday and it’s back to work for me. My wife works Monday and Tuesday so it’s my job to get the girls ready for their childminder. This is always a rush, but I have everything organised the day before to make it easier in the morning
Off to work I go! I’m very busy and never get much time to stop until about 4.30pm when I get home The girls are very excited at seeing me and I realise how much I have missed them.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I’m always out of the house by 7.15am and I don’t get home until around 5pm.
I’m usually doing at least two jobs at the same time which means dividing my time to ensure both jobs are finished by Saturday lunchtime. I also have to constantly fit in small jobs during the week. It’s a constant pressure to keep all my customers happy, most of which are the older generation, but it’s a buzz and I would never change it.
I sometimes wonder if I neglect family. I always to try to be there for them all, but unfortunately we need money to live.
In some ways – I don’t mean this in a arrogant or conceited way – but I know I’m pretty good at my job and I am probably a victim of my own success.
By Saturday afternoon it’s family time and we do whatever we decide to do!
It’s such a busy life sometimes and the weeks just fly by!

The weeks sure do fly by. Doesn’t seem like 5 minutes ago since I was juggling work and childminders.
