[AD] I’m improving my career prospects with Working Wales so I can change my story
My wife and I have been together for seventeen years. There is no doubt that over the years there have been some stressful times. For example, when we became parents to twin girls who are now nine years old.

2021 has without a doubt been the most stressful, but also the most exciting year of our time together. After many years of renting we have finally managed to buy our very first home, although it was in need of a complete renovation.
I wasn’t fazed about this as my experience of over 20 years as a painter and decorator would enable me to renovate our new home. I am very handy and I knew that many of the jobs that needed doing I would be able to tackle. For instance, it needed a new kitchen and this was something that I knew wouldn’t be an issue. Unfortunately even though there are many jobs I can turn my hand to, there are a few jobs that I had to employ tradespeople to do for me such as plastering and electrical work.
My Career goals for 2022
Now that we are heading into 2022 I have decided to set myself some career goals to enhance the services that I can offer to my clients. My aim for 2022 is to give a more complete service to my clients along with painting and decorating. I have decided from renovating our home that I want to learn plastering and also learn some basic electrical skills.

How do I plan to achieve my career goals for 2022?
I am very fortunate to live and work in Wales. That’s because in Wales they have a free service called Working Wales which is funded by the Welsh Government.
Working Wales will help me with free advice, guidance and give me access to courses so I can further my career and learn new skills such as plastering and electrical work. My aim for 2022 is to access courses where I can learn these new skills and offer new services to my clients. So that in addition to painting and decorating I will offer a more complete service.
