[AD] Review Of Red At The Wales Millennium Centre

Last Saturday we were fortunate enough to be invited to the Wales Millennium Centre with Likely Story for the opening of the show, Red.

Red is inspired by “Little Red Riding Hood” and it was certainly an off the wall interpretation of a classic tale. There were times when I felt I been transported to a far far away planet inhabited by aliens. Lol!

The characters, Peter, Grimsby and Jones set off on a journey to a fairy-tale wood, where trees whisper, strange creatures lurk and wolves run wild.

Grimsby and Jones are posties and they think they have delivered all the parcels and letters for Christmas and that they can go home and enjoy Christmas. That is until they discover they have one parcel left which has to be delivered to The Cottage in the enchanted wood. They find themselves unlikely heroes as they stray off the path in search of the cottage.

Upon entering the woods they meet Peter who teams up with them to deliver the parcel.

Along the way they meet slime monsters, dream beavers and three not so very wise owls. Eventually they find Grandma Red as they bring back forgotten stories.

The show is a festive, fun filled show that has the audience totally involved. It has magic, laughs and will definitely make you laugh out loud at times. It’s a perfect family show this Christmas.

Grimsby and Jones played by Hazel Anderson and Ellen Groves are very funny and have a wonderful chemistry between them. Peter who is played by Connor Allen bounces off the other two so very well and between the three of them they make Red a highly enjoyable show. All three of them are truly brilliant with so much energy, enthusiasm and total professionalism. I loved the way that they at any opportunity got the audience involved whether it be making pigeon sounds or howling like wolves.

Red is showing at the Wales Millennium Centre between the 14th-29th December with two shows a day. It is recommended for age 7+ (no under 2’s) Tickets are £10 each with a running time of approximately 1 hour 20 minutes. You can book your tickets here.

If you are looking for a family show this Christmas to give you a lot of laughs I would highly recommend Red.
