[AD] Saying Thank You To Your Child’s Teacher This Christmas

Regular readers of my blog will know that I am a father of five children. Three of those children have now left full time education, but I still have seven year old twin girls in junior school.

Over the years I have seen my fair share of teachers and it never ceases to amaze me what a fantastic job they do. My admiration for all the hard work they do in nurturing our young children’s minds grows year on year. Teaching is not a job, it is a vocation in life, and in my humble opinion the willingness to share their knowledge with young minds is truly incredible. We so often take it for granted what a vital role teachers play in our children’s lives and something we shouldn’t do is take that for granted because they help shape our children just as much as we do to lead a good life.

We so often just take our children off to school and I know I’m guilty of this. We leave them in the care of the dedicated teachers, teaching assistants and that’s it. We rarely say thank you for all their efforts while our children are in their care.

With Christmas nearly upon us this is a perfect time to say thank you by sending a Christmas card to your childs’ teacher.

I have teamed up with Thank A Teacher who will send a Christmas card to just say thank you to your child’s teacher for all things they do. So often it is those little things they do that really make a difference.

Just the other day one of my seven year old twin girls was not feeling very well at lunchtime so her teacher let her sit with her during lunchtime while she did some marking. That made my little girl feel secure and very happy that her teacher had gone above and beyond to make sure she was ok. It’s those little things that make the difference and she will always remember that her teacher went the extra mile. So by us sending her a card it will make her feel very special and acknowledge that her actions and the time she gave to my child have made a difference in her life.

The Thank A Teacher campaign is part of a national campaign which is aiming to highlight the importance of teachers in our children’s lives. Some teachers who have received thank you cards before have them gone on to win an award in the National Teaching Awards which is shown on the BBC programme Britain’s Classroom Heroes. This is the perfect way to celebrate teachers or teaching assistants and all the work they do.

You can get involved in this fantastic campaign by sending a Christmas card to your child’s teacher by simply going to the Thank A Teacher website. It really is so simple. It’s a short form to fill out and you can put in a special message to say a big thank you to your child’s teacher. I’m sure it will make them feel very special to receive a card in the post from one of their pupils that says they made a difference in their lives and how amazing they are. Plus, it’s totally free. It really could be anything about what a teacher may have done to help big or small such as, settling your child into school, maybe times have been tough at home and they have taken the time to listen and support them, or in my case given up her lunch hour to sit with my little girl because she didn’t feel well.
