Today’s world is unfortunately not crime free. There is no doubt that one of the biggest crimes carried out in the UK is burglary. In 2019 there was over 422 thousand burglaries in England and Wales, and those were only the reported ones meaning that the figure was quite likely considerably higher.

In nearly every home nowadays there is going to be a selection of expensive high end tech items as well as expensive cars on the drive and these will be the kind of targets of would be criminals. If they are breaking into your home, they will be looking for car keys and items such as laptops and smartphones that they can move on quickly.

So when I was recently approached by Swann to review their Spotlight Outdoor Security Camera I instantly thought yes! That would be a really good piece of tech to give us added security to our home, especially if we are on holiday or out on a day trip.

The Swann Spotlight Outdoor Security Camera is a fantastic security camera that is so simple to set-up and start protecting your home instantly. It has a powered Wi-Fi connection which I found connected in seconds once I had installed the camera to the front of house.

It has a true detect system that will detect heat, motion and most importantly person sensing to give you a reliable alert which will come up on your smartphone.

For me a true test of a security camera is how good is the picture and does it lag on a live feed? Well, the Swann security camera will not disappoint. It has 1080p HD quality that gives crystal clear video day or night. It didn’t lag at all and live feed was exactly what happened that very split second.

To deter anybody that is considering breaking into your home it has motion lighting and a siren that will make any would be burglars think twice about breaking in.

It also has free recording which saves clips to a secure cloud rolling over for 7 days and there is also offline back-up.

The Swann Security camera is fully weatherproof including rain or snow and will work all year around.

In today’s world with people getting conned by people cold calling at peoples homes, especially the elderly, the security camera has a 2 way audio to warn intruders and give you the security that you are not opening the door to anybody that is up to no good.

It can also go hands free with Google Assistant or Alexa.

Final Thoughts

This is a quality security camera that has thought of everything. It has a fantastic picture that is crystal clear. It was incredibly easy to install and link to your smartphone via the Swann app. It literally took me about 30 minutes to have it up and running and protecting our home. Now that’s impressive.
