The Reality Of Santa Delivering Presents To All The Children In The World

Christmas eve is a busy time for one particular person. Yes, it’s Santa! He has to deliver all the presents to all the children in world. Of course we all know that it’s the magic of Christmas that will help him, but have you ever wondered what the reality of making sure that all the children on the good list receive their presents that they’re under the Christmas tree ready to be opened on Christmas morning?

Online Money Advisor has done research into the science behind Christmas and you may be surprised of the expectations against the reality of Santa’s mammoth job every Christmas.

Santa will be required to visit 1500 homes every second to ensure he gets around the world in one night. Now that is some task.

Have you ever wondered where all the presents are stored? After all, when we think of Santa and in particular his home and where he lives, I’m sure, like me, we all think of a log cabin in Lapland covered in a blanket of snow. So where would he keep all the presents? Surely they don’t all fit in his log cabin? The reality is he would need 530 warehouses the size of Heathrow airport to store all the presents. Now, that is a lot of warehouses!

Of course all the presents will need to be covered by insurance and when you consider that all the gifts have a combined value of 54 billion which is around £100 per child, that is going to be a pretty big insurance premium. Am interesting point is that £54 billion is around about the GDP of Luxembourg.

Santa will have to visit 182,898,468 houses with an average of 3 children per home. That’s a lot of squeezing down chimneys! It will also include the eating of way too many mince pies and drinking gallons of sherry. The reality of this is that Santa would be consuming 285 calories per house. That means on Christmas Eve he will consume 52 billion calories and be way over the drink drive limit. Thankfully Santa has his magic to rely on which I’m sure he uses to the maximum. To ensure that no children are disappointed on Christmas morning.
