Brilliant dad feature week 36
This weeks Brilliant Dad Feature is Matt. Matt is a dad in Leeds who prefers going out to a fancy posh-nosh restaurant (although sometimes settles for a Burger King) as oppose to necking 10 pints on a night out! He blogs at Fat Dad in Leeds.
1. Have you always wanted to be a dad?
In all honesty I’d never really considered it. Although I can say with confidence now that I would be lost without her.
2. How did you feel when your children were born?
I’ve cried twice in my adult life, once when my dad died, once on the day my daughter was born. I was overwrought with happiness!
3. What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a Dad?
Watching her grow from a tiny thing that terrified me in case I did anything wrong to a young lady taking her first steps. (Also, watching her try to play the guitar is something I love to watch!)
4. What are some of funniest moments to have happened to you as a dad?
When she giggles like mad when she gets out of the bath!
5. Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?
Living really far away from family is hard for us because it means our support network (although only a Skype away) isn’t instantly accessible so we can’t rely on anyone so finding time as a couple has been ridiculously difficult.
6. What are your dreams and hopes for your children?
As cheesy as it sounds I want her just to be happy. (Or possibly rich so that she can keep me well-kept in my old age…)
Thank you to Matt for taking part in The Brilliant Dad feature.
