Brilliant dad feature week 51
Today’s brilliant dad feature is Rodney from the USA…
I am a recovered workaholic. I have been working smart instead of hard for two years now and it feels great.
I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I am a husband to my beautiful wife Krystal. I am a father to my five year old Randall, and my newborn daughter Robin.
Although I went to college, worked hard and achieved several of my career goals. I never found myself feeling truly fulfilled. I was always tired, I wasn’t meeting my financial goals, and I rarely got to spend any quality time with my family and loved ones.
That is until I reached complete exhaustion and financial depletion. Also known as rock bottom and finally decided to change my life.
Now I am an online entrepreneur who has a real work/life balance. I also have a passion to help other overworked dads break free from the dream killing “employee mindset” that used to keep me trapped in a cycle of unemployment, broke, and unfulfilled. I blog at www.fatherpreneurship.com
1. Have you always wanted to be a dad?
When I was 12 years old I remember having deep thoughts about the future and how I would be with my children.
2. How did you feel when your children were born?
I felt very helpless but at the same time curious. I felt ready to be dad yet strangely not ready but most importantly I was ready to love them.
3. What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a dad?
The most rewarding is just being there for my children.
4. What are some of the funniest moments to have happened to you as a dad?
The funniest moment happened on a road trip back to Georgia my mother in law was changing my son when she made a disastrous mistake she forgot to put a new diaper under the dirty diaper she was changing this resulted in baby poo all over the front and back seats of the car as well as his parents and grandmother won’t make that mistake again.
5. Have there been any situations that you have found difficult to cope with?
There have been many situations that I have found difficult to cope with one of those has been losing my job for various reasons.
Another difficult situation was my wife being forced into a c-section this was the most hopeless I have felt in my life.
6. What are your hopes and dreams for your children?
My hopes and dreams revolve around one thing that they do and become everything God planned for them. And they find and retain joy in everything they do.
Thank you very much to Rodney for taking part in the brilliant dad feature.
