Buying or renting a home

Rightly or wrongly I made some decisions about what I thought was the right moral thing to do. From my first marriage I had three children. They were born and bred in that house and they still live there now so for me it seemed the right decision for them to stay there. 

For me to do that it was financially difficult and over the past 12 years or so has cost me a lot of money. I may sound bitter and twisted, but I am genuinely not. At the time it was the right decision and I don’t have any regrets. I hope one day my children from that marriage realise the sacrifices I made has benefitted them. 

So for years, approximately 11, I have been in a renting cycle. Personally I don’t I have a problem renting, buts let’s face it in this country there are many people of all ages that look down their noses at people who rent. Before you judge me I would like you to think back to the last time somebody said they rented and how you replied with we own our own home. Well not quite, unless you won the lottery, the mortgage company owns a lot more than you!

The question I asked is why are people such snobs over renting and think they are so much better people because they are buying. It really annoys me. People renting in England and Wales currently stands at 9 million people so we are not a minority.

The problem with this country is that the mentality of buying a house seems to be implanted in young minds as a given, but now with banks being more restricted on lending and wanting a no zero risk and a huge deposit people will be renting more and more. 

Finally I would love to own my own home and hopefully I will one day soon.
