Content Types – Give Your Blogs New Angles

February 14, 2021

Starting a blog is a huge idea. Putting your mind online is something not all of us can do with ease. You’re going to need innovative opinions. You’ll have to keep your finger on the pulse of whatever scene you plan to write about. But let’s say you take the valiant step to get started. Excellent. But you may find that all your blog posts start to look similar. You could fall into a stale content groove. Here’s how to give your blogs new angles.

Video is very “in” right now

If you’re yet to stud your blog with video content, you’re missing out on an open secret (see video making software guide from Bynder for inspiration on getting started). Every content platform offers video. People crave it. Even Spotify now offers video for podcast uploaders who like to film their interviews. You want videos on Twitter? You got it. Video on Insta? It’s there. Don’t ignore it.

Professional video making software or a feature-rich movie maker free tool allows you to create, edit, store, and distribute your clips across channels. If you currently have one or two videos posted to your blog, and if the source files are stored in the memory on your phone, you probably already know deep down that you aren’t taking things seriously enough. Can you export in a variety of formats? Can you easily personalize your video content for localized posts? Video can skyrocket your blogging attempts to date.

Listicles – blogging made easy

Listicles are a great way to cover a lot of ground without going into too much depth in any one area. Everybody loves a list. From comparing things like what celebrities looked like 20 years ago to what they look like now, to a list of interior design ideas, everything can fall into a list.

The idea is that you don’t need to focus an entire blog around one “item” but rather a theme. It’s easy enough when you think about it. Whatever your blog is about, there are doubtless many angles you could take with listicles. Love to write about food? Perfect. Stop writing about individual recipes and start mixing up your content with listicles about seasonal ingredients and cooking styles. Your audience will love the variation in style.

Collate your content into an infographic

If your blog presentation style is the same old story post after post, with solid text dominating and maybe the odd image thrown in for fun, you could think about spending a post focusing on an infographic.

By creating an image that’s supported by snippets of text that explain small points or standout areas across the theme, you’ll be giving your audience a new reason to stick around. They will want to know all the information from all angles. Instead of reading paragraph after paragraph, you can mix up the information on a well-designed infographic.

What’s more, this style of content can be easily shared. So, if you ever wanted to boost your presence across social media, with likes and share volumes that you usually only see on posts from industry leaders and celebrities, this is your chance.
