Your Own Holiday Home Abroad

The Covid-19 pandemic has certainly affected our holiday plans for nearly a year now. This is particularly true for those who like to holiday abroad. One of the most popular tourist destinations for us Brits is Spain. With its sandy beaches, good food and cheap accommodation it’s easy to see why thousands of tourists head there year on year.

Thankfully with the mass rollout of vaccination programmes across the world, countries like Spain will hopefully be welcoming back holidaymakers to their country. For the majority of tourists that usually means a package holiday, but if you’re lucky enough to own a holiday home in Spain then you may well be able to return for multiple visits throughout the year again. 

It has always been my dream to own a holiday home so that at a moments notice I can jump on a plane and spend a couple of weeks in the sun to re-charge my batteries and get some vitamin D. Let’s face it – some time in the sun will always make you feel better, which is something we could all benefit from right now!

If you are thinking of buying a holiday home in a country like Spain, there are many things that you need to check out, so let’s take a look at the most important, shall we?

1. Location

This is without doubt the most important first step in finding your dream holiday home in a foreign country such as Spain.

I would first of all decide on the region where you want your holiday home to be. This could be up in the mountains or by the Mediterranean Sea or something that is in the middle with easy access to both.

This is where you should take a trip for a couple of weeks to survey the area and see what type of holiday homes are available and get a feel of the place to make sure it suits you.

2. Cost

When deciding where you would like to buy your holiday home it’s very important to make sure you can afford the purchase price as well as check out any costs surrounding the owning of a holiday home such as maintenance costs and Solicitors fees etc.

Once you have checked that out and you have decided that it is all affordable, the process of buying your new holiday home can begin.

3. Furnishing your Holiday home

So, everything has gone smoothly and you now own your holiday home in Spain? Great!But does it feel like home? When you buy a holiday home in Spain many of them come fully furnished, but of course that might not be to your taste, which is where you could find a local company in Spain that offers a furniture package that is perfect for you.

Whether you are looking for a traditional Spanish feel to your home or you would like a more contemporary feel, this is something that can be sorted out online and they will also offer soft furnishings such as cushions, curtains etc, to complete the furnishing of your holiday home.

4. Time to use holiday home

Once you have completed the process of buying a holiday home abroad it’s time to start using it, deciding how long and how often in the year you are going to go on holidays.

Having your own holiday home has many advantages. First of all, you won’t need to pack a big suitcase of clothes because you can have all your clothes already there all year around. Once you arrive at the airport there is no waiting for travel reps to catch a bus to your hotel, you can just jump in a taxi and be in your holiday home in no time and start enjoying your break in the sun.

I would love to own a holiday home in the future. It’s so much easier and you only have to worry about arranging flights and before you know it you are on holidays.
