Danger mouse toy review

Danger Mouse is basically the ‘world’s greatest secret agent’. Penfold is his hamster sidekick and between them they protect the world from danger! With over 3.6 million viewers in its first six weeks on CBBC, the all new TV series of Danger Mouse has been a ratings triumph!

When I was recently asked to review some Danger Mouse toys I was pretty excited! I was sent one Danger Mouse figure and one Penfold figure, which are both available for £7.99 each (RRP). There’s also a Baron Greenback figure.

Each figure comes with its own accessory making them perfect for re-enacting favourite storylines and episodes!
Danger Mouse comes with his very own zip line! You can attach Danger Mouse to the handle by his hand and then give him a push to watch him zip down the zip line!

The zip line is easy to use by simply attaching either end to a chair or similar. This Danger Mouse toy is suitable for children aged three and over and is 7.5cm tall.

Danger Mouse is great to look at, but during play, his arms and legs kept coming off. Our girls really enjoyed playing with him, but did get a bit frustrated at having to ask me to put his arms and legs back on!
We had the same issue with Penfold, although his legs stayed on, it was his arms that once again seem to come off so easily. Penfold is also 7.5cm tall and comes with special boots and a launch pad.

Simply pop the boots on Penfolds feet, something which the girls struggled with. I had to help get his feet in as it was quite tricky to squeeze them in. You then need to stand Penfold on the base, press the base down and release for him to fly upward.

Sounds great, but when you consider that Penfold just balances on top of the base and isn’t actually attached in anyway, it was quite difficult for the girls to get him to stand on top without falling off whilst they tried to launch him off. Although suitable for children from age three, perhaps this one is more suited to older children?
Penfold does, however, also attach to the zip line that comes with Danger Mouse so the girls had fun with that!

Overall, both Danger Mouse and Penfold look great. There are some design flaws as mentioned above, but if you’re a Danger Mouse fan don’t let this put you off.
