Disney Convert Or Still Disney Grumpy? The Magic of Disney Part 2 

In my last Disney post I finished up at the illuminations on day two. I didn’t think it could get any better, how wrong was I?!

So, here we go. It’s now onto day three and the time certainly goes quickly. Our holiday is moving at very high speed. The one thing that has amazed me is how our five year old twins had walked just about everywhere and on just rare occasions asked to be picked up and carried.

The only thing I can put this down to is the fact that’s it’s Disneyland Paris and believe me, if you have never been I can assure you there is always something going on to keep them occupied, something truly amazing and magical to watch. It’s the magic of Disney! Also being there on their 25th anniversary year, just makes it all the more magical.

Day 3 

The day started with breakfast at Plaza Gardens with the characters. The girls got to meet many of their favourites including Tigger, Mickey and Scrooge McDuck, (Donald ducks uncle). There is something very special about meeting the characters while you are eating and the girls loved the excitement and photo opportunities and of course having their autograph books signed. Watching their faces light up really is magical.

We went over to Frontierland where we knew there would be an opportunity for the girls to have a photo with Woody. Ok, I admit it, I wanted my photo taken with him too, haha! A very magical moment, well for me it was! Toy Story has always been my absolute favourite Disney film. I was not disappointed meeting Woody for me was awesome, as I’d already met Buzz!

We then rushed over to the Disney studios for the Star Wars show. We arrived just as it was starting and it was without question worth rushing over for. It was amazing! There was Darth Vader taking centre stage, although for me when Chewbacca arrived he stole the show! The girls loved this and stood transfixed watching all the action. Lots of lasers and pretend fighting between Chewbacca and Darth Vader and of course the storm troopers protecting their leader.

As the day progressed we went on a few rides such as the teacups, the dumbo ride which the girls loved, but I think their absolute favourite was it’s a small world. This ride is very clever, although the girls are a bit young to understand it really. It’s about the people of the world living in harmony and peace. A lesson I’m sure this current world we live in could learn from, but unfortunately Disney is a fantasy, but that doesn’t mean they are not portraying an important message. If only the world could be more peaceful.

We had lunch at Chey Remy in The Studios, which was definitely one of our favourite restaurants. Great food and excellent service. The restaurant is based upon the Ratatouille film which was very cool.

We visited Alice’s Curious labyrinth, a maze that was simple, but loads of fun finishing at the castle where you had great views of all of Disneyland Paris.

Before we headed back to our hotel we managed to catch the princesses waltz which M in particular loved. She has a real passion for princesses. R wasn’t quite so sure, but when the princes came out her little face lit up and she totally got into the swing of the show.

Before making our way back to the hotel we saw the parade down Main Street which I have to admit typified the magic of Disney with big floats and showboating, it really is magical. All the main films including Frozen had big floats, with Anna and Elsa the stars of the show. I have total admiration for the cast members doing the parade, it was hot and they never fail to smile and dance their way down Main Street.

We headed  backed to the the hotel and had a short rest before having dinner at inventions. We went back into the parks and went on a few rides before deciding on an early night because it had been a super busy day.

Day 4 

The day started out with breakfast at inventions, which is in our hotel so not far for us to go.

Everyday I have to say my wife was very well organised and knew exactly what was happening and at what time. Thank goodness for those Disney Facebook groups she’d been spending all her spare time in! I would have been at a loss for what to do and when! My wife also had the Disneyland app on her phone which I have to say is brilliant. If you are not sure where to go or you need the toilet, the map shows you where you are and where the nearest toilet, shop is etc.

The first part of the day we decided to go and meet Peter Pan. R was particularly looking forward to this as she loves Peter Pan and M is a huge fan of Tinkerbelle. We arrived and amazingly were near the front of the queue.

While we were there I saw a good opportunity to have my photo taken in my grumpy onesie in front of Jack Sparrow’s boat and why not! Although I did get some strange looks, haha!

So we queued up and unfortunately Mr Smee turned up. We knew it could be any of Peter Pans friends. Anyways the girls had a photo taken and my wife asked if Peter Pan was coming later, which he was in about an hour, so we decided to join the end of queue and start again.

R decided she wanted her Peter Pan costume, which was back at our hotel, so we decided this is a one off and I trekked back to our hotel to get the costume. When I got back we were about third in line to see Peter Pan and Wendy Darling was coming along as well.

In life when it concerns your children some moments will be forever implanted in your memory as completely awesome and totally magical. I didn’t know this was going to be one of those moments, but when my five year old twins went up to meet Peter Pan and Wendy Darling, I know I had the biggest smile across my face ever.

They are at that perfect age. They believe it’s not make believe. To them it’s all real and watching them at this moment nearly brought a tear of happiness to my eye. A major highlight of our trip. Peter Pan and Wendy Darling were easily the most interactive with the girls of all the characters we met.

After this, we had to rush over to the silver spur restaurant for lunch. I’m not going to say too much, other than avoid this restaurant! Terrible service and food. It was a very unpleasant experience.

After lunch we did a bit of shopping and then headed back to the hotel for a swim in the hotel swimming pool and take it easy because we wanted to stay up to watch the illuminations on our final night.

For dinner we went to Walts, the restaurant was beautiful, the service fantastic and the food out of this world. Although my wife decided she wanted chocolate gateaux which wasn’t on our meal plan menu it cost €16. Which leads me to suggest that anybody going to Disneyland Paris get a meal plan otherwise eating out could cost you a fortune.

We decided to spend the last of our money and treat the girls and buy some last minute gifts for family.

We went on it’s a small world and a few other rides and before we knew it it was 10.15pm, so we made our way to the Disney castle to enjoy the illuminations on our last night.

It was a beautiful warm night, and everbody was sitting down to watch the illuminations at 11.00pm. I didn’t think for one minute that it would live up to the first time we had seen them, but if I’m honest it surpassed my wildest expectations. I took in every single moment and it really does have the WOW factor, it’s truly awesome!

That was it by 9am the following morning we would be on our way home.

I went to Disneyland Paris with a lot of reservations about it being any good as a holiday, but I loved it! I’m sold on the magic of Disney. I loved every minute! It’s easily the best holiday I have ever had.

The question is, are we going back? OMG! Are we ever! I’m already excited about visiting next year. In fact we nearly booked to go in October half term, but decided against it because of the weather.

The Magic of Disney is now forever in my heart and yes I think I have found my inner child!
