Do I love blogging or am I addicted

March 11, 2016

I will just start out this post by saying that I love blogging 99% of the time. It’s something that I have found interesting because initially I actually didn’t think I would like it, but in truth I’ve ended up loving it. It’s actually really hard work and requires a lot of effort, which, if I’m honest if I didn’t love it I would have stopped a long time ago.

What are the things I love about blogging?
1. I have never been a person to write things down in a notebook, specifically my feelings or thoughts, but to be able to write down all my thoughts and publish them on the internet just seems right. I have no idea what my readers, (if I have any), actually think whilst reading my posts, but I hope they find some of it interesting. Who knows though!
2. Blogging has given me my little corner of the internet where I am able to write about my own memories and all the things my children have done. It’s interesting that you tell your children lots of things about yourself and also about themselves, but of course they forget because that’s what children do. Ha! Ha! When I’m gone from this world, it’s to know that my little corner of the internet will live on and hopefully my children will read it and laugh, cry or just mock me!

3. The blogging community is really quite fascinating. I have numerous, what I call cyber friends that I chat to on either Facebook or Twitter, but have never met, yet the support of most fellow bloggers is incredible, They will always be there with advice or just simply a chat and support. One particular section of that community has been the dad bloggers. I started a feature on my blog called Brilliant Dad Feature and I’ve always been overwhelmed and humbled at how many dads have given their time to me.
4. The pressures of life are sometimes really hard and having my blog to write about my own issues is a kind of therapy that allows me to assess and sort my problems out. For me writing it down makes the issue a lot easier to solve.
5. Over the last year or so I have been approached by a couple of charity’s to support them. It’s very humbling to be asked and a privilege to be involved in just a small way in helping charities.
6. I have been lucky to have companies sending me the odd product to review, as well as some sponsored work. This has only happened on a more regular basis in the last few months, but it’s satisfying that all my hard work is actually being noticed.
The truth is I love blogging. I’ve grown into it gradually and never seem short of an idea of what to write about.
I’m honest enough to admit, yes, I am a little bit addicted! I love Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and I really love Klout! I’m totally addicted to social media. It justs seems to get a hold of me and they really are wonderful communities if used properly.

Finally I have been very lucky to have a mentor in my journey of blogging which is my wife Emily who has been blogging at Twin Mummy and Daddy for a number of years.

It has never been too much effort to proof read all of my posts and help me in any way possible for my blog. I could never have done it without my wife. I love you, thank you.

it can be a little bit addicting. I find myself constantly thinking about what I'm going to write next and what I need to be doing to get that content out there

This is a great summary, I might need to revisit it when I find myself in a blog fug

I think ithe is a bit addictive. I underestimated the time aspect. I no longer have time to read a book as I read blog posts instead. As long as it's enjoyable blogging is fab. You do hear people quitting but I think it's just about balance. #justanotherlinky lifeinthemumslane

It is great you have enjoyed and got support. It is interesting that your wife does it as well and how that influences the situation. As you might understand each other better, work together and support. Sometimes partners don't always get what you doing so much be lovely to have someone that understands. Also a plus is that we hear more from a male voice as men provide an important role in parenting as well X #justanotherlinky

Hi Nigel, blogging is undoubtedly addictive. The sense of community is what has surprised me the most, who knew you could create a bond with people you've never met before? I know I didn't. And as for writing as a form of therapy? I'm with you on that. You can blog to get something off your chest or t put the world to rights or sometimes I find that just having something else to focus on takes my mind of things that are bugging me.

Emily sounds like a fantastic and supportive wife, you are a lucky man!

    xx

Totally agree with a lot in this post. Blogging has given me a place to vent and write down things I couldn't quite say. Thanks for linking up to #justanotherlinky xx
