Gryphon Wi-Fi Router Review #AD

We live in a world that is now massively digitally reliant and most children by the age of five will have been exposed to the internet. The biggest danger to just having plain and simple family time is actually screen time, and like most parents I find it difficult to control screen time, especially if you have children that have inquisitive minds.

So when I was approached by Gryphon to review their WiFi router I was a little more than curious about how it could protect my children when they are online. It is a new sensible way to protect your children and a host of smart devices that many homes now have.

On unpacking the Gryphon WiFi router, the first thing to do was to set it up and pair it with my iPhone. I downloaded the Gryphon app from the App Store. This is also available for Android.

I will be honest, initially it was a bit finicky to set and pair with my phone, but the online help from Gryphon was excellent and via email they quickly sorted any problems I had and got me up and running.

Now I had it all working I started to work out all the different features. The first one I was really interested in was parental controls which were numerous, but a couple that instantly jumped out at me was how you can pause the internet. This is especially good for mealtimes when I’m a great believer in sitting down as a family. You can also set homework and bed-times, another brilliant idea. It’s a fantastic way to control screen time and getting your children to sleep at a reasonable hour.

Network protection is another great feature which amongst other things means it will block randomware and malware using ESET technology, as well as security updates daily to prevent the latest threats. Network protection is free for the first year.

As I mentioned at the beginning of the post, it’s a world of digital growth and there is no doubt that as the years pass we are becoming more reliant on the internet, but that poses the problem of how do we protect our children?

For me the Gryphon WiFi router is a fantastic piece of technology that is going to enable me to protect our household and more importantly my children when they are on the internet. As my six year old twin girls start to have more screen time and I learn all the awesome features that the Gryphon has, this will be invaluable to protect them online. I would highly recommend the Gryphon WiFi router as an additional piece of technology for your home.
