Home Security Tips, Crime Prevention and Home Safety

April 11, 2018

Your home should be your safe place where you can relax and unwind after a difficult day. Unfortunately things can go wrong even at home. Which is why home security is so important. In case you are targeted by burglars.

In fact a burglary takes place about every 18 seconds in the US.

Fortunately, thanks to the second amendment you have the right to protect your home with a gun; providing you have obtained it legally.

There are several ways in which you can secure your home:

Get A Gun

You can visit a local store for your weapon and then visit gungods.net to locate the right accessories. This is generally seen as the ultimate deterrent.

However, an intruder may not know you have a weapon until they enter your home. If you draw it you must be prepared to use it without hesitation. If you don’t the weapon could be used against you.

For this reason it is a good idea to practice at the local range. At least you’ll feel confident handling your gun.

Cameras

It can be a good idea to fit several cameras to the outside of your property. This will allow you to see and record intruders before they reach your home.

You can then react accordingly, whether with your gun, a warning message over a speaker system or simply calling the police.

However it is important to consider where you locate your cameras; your neighbors may not want you knowing what they are doing.

Locks

It is also important to get good locks for your windows and doors and to use them. Anything that makes it harder for a criminal to access your home makes it more likely that they will move on and try a different house.

Borders

The type of border you choose can attract or repel invaders!

A fence can be easily scaled and can then offer the invader privacy while they find their way into your home. However a prickly bush is not a pleasure to get through and is highly likely to deter an invader.

Alongside this it is a good idea to speak to the rest of your community and establish a neighborhood watch scheme.

There are bound to be some members in your community that are home most of the time and can watch everyone else’s houses. This might not prevent an attack but it will certainly stop it in progress.

Out Of Sight

It is also a good idea to keep your valuables out of sight. Your expensive car, bike and even ride on mower should be kept locked inside a garage.

Even your laptop should not be easily visible through the windows.

This will help to ensure that potential criminals don’t break-in; if there is nothing of value it is not worth their effort.

It can help to put curtains up on the most vulnerable windows.

Lighting

Attacks often happen at night but if you install motion detectors linked to lights you can quickly have the yard looking like a floodlit football pitch!

This should send most unwanted characters running!
