How do our children see us as parents?
How do our children really see us? I have often wondered what they see me as. Here is a list of 8 things that I think my children visualise me as.
1. I am a bank with unlimited money to give to them, I wish!
2. I am a shoulder to cry on when romance breaks down. Give advice only to be told three days later, “Dad you have no idea!”
3. I am a personal taxi service to be called upon 24/7! Dad I’m late for school.
4. I’m there to be shouted at when they have read something that has been said to them on Facebook by a friend and in a split second puts them in a bad mood and all I did was ask what do you want for tea?
5. You are there to give them a cuddle that is until they are too old to be cuddled and you have to wait until they are in their teens before a cuddle is acceptable again!
6. When they fall over and hurt themselves or they are unwell you become a doctor and can put everything right with a kiss.
7. When your children are little you are their security blanket. They look for you when you are out to feel safe which is actually that is a really a cool feeling.
8. I’m a soft touch, just ask dad he always says yes. If not wear him down it doesn’t take long!
This list has a little bit of fun in it, but the truth is I’m just Dad. I love all my children so very much and would do anything for them. I don’t think I am easy or hard on my children. If it is possible I will always do it, that is love and just simply being a dad.

I love the pics – what a gorgeous family. Some of these ring true when I was a kid. Always asking for lifts and money to top up my phone usually! You do sound like a soft touch but I think that is what Dad's are for. Thanks for sharing with #bestandworst and see you soon xx

The teenager thinks I'm a taxi and a pushover. So far the little still thinks I'm a superhero. I hope that continues for a while

All so true, number 8 made me laugh when my daughter asked me something, and I reply with ask Dad, she says it is a yes then as Dad always says yes lol x

I loved this! My dad used to say that on hearing me say 'Daaaaad' his hand would automatically reach for his wallet lol I remember him for giving the best hugs ever.

I feel like a caterer to my 8 year old. LOL! He's always asking me to do things for him. He also sees me as his protector and that makes me feel great! Thanks for sharing! Visiting from #abitofeverything

As a mum when my boy was young I was a bank, a cook, a walking diary, the voice of reason and often a nagging old witch!!
As mum to an adult I am a friend and still the voice of reason. I quite like the subtle change in our relationship now, although obviously I will abways worry, I am no longer responsible for him.
