How Parents Can Develop Healthy and Strong Children
Nothing brightens a parent’s face more than the sight of a happy child. For our children are the light of our life. We’re happiest when we know they’re safe and happy. By providing everything they need in terms of mind, body, and spirit, we can help them grow and develop into positive and confident human beings.

Here are six easy tips on how parents can develop healthy and strong children:
1. Good Nutrition Is a Good Start
One of the hallmarks of good health is good nutrition. As our child’s natural protectors, we should establish healthy eating habits early on. This will result in a positive effect over the lifetime of not only our child but ourselves.
Turns out grandma was right. Eating more plant-based foods at mealtime is an excellent way to make sure your child will get the good stuff into their system. Let’s make sure we do the right things and lead by example.
We should be eating our whole grains, fruits and veggies, nuts, and good carbs; including all the other great sources of natural fiber that our good mother earth provides for our sustenance. We need to remind our little ones to drink enough water to keep their bodies properly hydrated.
2. Proper Rest Is Paramount
We all know our children have a natural abundance of energy; in short, they can’t sit still for long. But when they’re ready for rest we should make sure they’re comfortable. One way to ensure they get a proper night’s sleep is by selecting quality beds and mattresses.
3. Excercise Is Essential
Coupled with eating good nutrition is getting outside and moving our bodies. As a human, we were not meant to be a sedentary creature.
Thirty minutes of exercise per day, every day (with maybe one day off per week), is sufficient enough to grow strong bodies. This will help your child better cope with their individual stressors, which are part and parcel of going through those tough pre-teen years.
Teaching them (by example) to love exercise at a young age offers another benefit. Having a strong body may thwart off adolescent bullying.
4. Parent-Child Activities Build Confidence
As our children watch us (even when we don’t realize it) it’s super-important that we include them in home-made projects that will help them develop a good self-image.
There are DIY activities that we can do together and can do later by themselves. This will, over time, help build and solidify knowledge of being capable of doing anything. As success breeds success, a truism happens to be true.
5. Build a Positive Mental Outlook
While you’re slowly, over time, doing all the right things to hone the next better version of yourself, don’t forget to mold what happens on the inside.
Yes, I’m talking about a brainy issue—those things your child thinks about. It’s about how they see themselves and the overall world around them, including the way in which they fit in it. Your child’s mental outlook could be thought of as a second cousin of the above activity confidence booster.
Here are a few guidelines:
- Have one-on-one discussions (anything they want to talk about)
- Provide tutors with schoolwork (if needed)
- Positive reinforcement (sports games, a small task you observe)
- It’s important to have a good private healthcare plan in place from someone such as Guys & St Thomas.
The most essential thing here is to be genuine, as you know nowadays children can smell any gesture that’s inauthentic, however well-meaning.
6. Demonstrate Your Love
Experts agree, after providing a stable family environment, make sure they get proper education and nutrition. The one thing you can do to make sure your child becomes the person you envision is to demonstratively show your love to them.
This can mean, at times, turning off your smartphone or turning off the ball game on TV. There are also those other multi-tasking activities that are so part of today. However, I would add that doing things like assisting with automobile repair and helping out in the kitchen are all good ideas.A father takes on a second job to feed his family adequately. A mother works late hours night-after-night because she knows that must-have dress means everything to her daughter. We will make the sacrifices we can for our kids. Why? Because our children are the most important thing to us. In this life, isn’t everything we do really for our children?

I love this!!! As parents of two young, beautiful children, we take this very seriously too. It drives me crazy seeing parents feeding their kids chicken dippers and putting them in front of the iPad all day.
