I'm a part-time stay at home dad to be!
R & M are starting nursery in September and until now I have always had Monday off work to be with the twins and a family friend has looked after them on a Tuesday.
The reason behind this is because my wife works two days a week so for about 18 months this is how it has worked out for us in childcare.
So after a lot thought on my part. Actually it didn’t take me long to decide!
I have decided to be there for the girls Monday and Tuesday which I suppose makes me a part-time stay at home dad.
The truth is that they grow up so quickly and my decision is based upon one of selfishness. I want to grab as much of then growing up as possible and I actually don’t want to miss anything, but unfortunately the thing called work gets in the way.
The transition of the girls going to nursery is hopefully going to be a smooth one, but should it not be I know now that I will be there to take them and will be ready outside to pick them up, to hopefully give them the security that only Mummmy and Daddy can give them.
I really can’t wait for the next chapter in R and M’s life. At such a young age they are going to nursery, but I will be there for them for at least two days a week to pick them up and listen to all the excitement of their time in nursery and all about their new friends and teachers.
It really is such an exciting time for me as well as the girls because I get to spend some extra time with them because it has gone, that’s it you can’t get those moments back, so it makes me incredibly happy to be such a big part of this adventure for R and M.

You won't regret it. I'm about to go back to work full-time and I'll really miss those few hours after school and the morning school run. Precious times that can so easily be taken for granted.

I am a tad bit jealous that you are able to stay home with them even it is part time! I can only hope one day I will be home with my kids! #MummyandUs

It is great that you have this special time for them. My hubby chose to take lesser pay to be able to work from home 4 days a week which allows him to be a big part of our kids lives, it is worth it, as you said you can't get that time back, so if you have the option then it is great opportunity. #mummyandus

It's difficult trying to fit our work schedules with family circumstance… although family should come first but we do need work to support our family's financial needs too, just so confusing. I'm glad you have two days off to be with them… Both me and hubby works five days a week so my kids be left with childminder which I wish I would have looked after them myself. For now, we just have to treasure every moment we bond with our kids! #MummyandUs

They do grow up too quickly, my daughter is starting secondary school in 2 weeks, so after 7 years at primary and the nursery before that, where I have done the school runs and taken her to school and been there to pick her up, I am being made redundant.

I love this. It's great seeing stay at home dad's however the time is split. I grew up with a working dad and have a very poor relationship with him. Yet since being a sahd ive felt closer to the boys. Something I'm sure you'll notice with the girls. Thanks for linking up with us on the #bigfatlinky hope to see you there this week
