I Really Need A Home Office

Over the years my blog has grown and I now find it difficult to do everything I need to do for a successfully run blog on the kitchen table or the sofa.

This has led me to thinking that maybe I should have an office within our home. This will be quite difficult to accommodate, but what we do have in our home is a very large lounge and I believe within this area I will be able to make a space which will become my home office.

Of course the decisions I will need to make is to find out exactly what I’ll need in my little space that I can call my home office. I also don’t want to infringe upon our family living space so it also needs to be practical for me to work from. So here is my list of essentials that I will need to make that little corner in our home, my space.

1. Desk

The most important item I will need for my little office is a desk that is practical and has the space for a laptop and all of my stationary, pens and pencils. While I was browsing on the internet I came across LionsHomes.

While I was looking at their very extensive range of desks I came across the perfect desk on LionsHomes. It has shelves and draws and it’s dimensions were perfect for the area that I was going to transform into my home office.

2. Chair

Being comfortable whilst I am working away on my laptop is vital because I can be sitting for a number of hours. The chair I will be looking for is a padded high backed chair that is also a swivel chair and I would prefer it in an imitation black leather finish.

3. Floating Shelves

Above my desk I would like two floating shelves to keep the things that I don’t use constantly, but want them on hand easily. This will keep my workspace clear on my desk.

4. Accessories

I would also like a nice selection of pen holders and organisers for all my paperwork so whenever I need something it’s there in front of me, and I am not searching for a pen or a pencil for 20 minutes which would mean me losing valuable working time.

Making this small area in my lounge into a home office will be so important for me to become productive as a blogger and it will mean that I won’t be sat on the sofa with a laptop and paperwork all around me in a totally disorganised state.

Life as a blogger is at times very stressful and with deadlines to meet it is vital to have everything you need to create the best blog post you can, whether that’s editing photos, printing campaign briefs or updating my diary.

Of course when I am sitting and working for what could possibly be hours on end, I want to be in a friendly environment and adding a few personal touches like a few framed photos of my children to make it not only my workspace but also a place where I will be inspired, and nothing inspires me more as a blogger than my children. After all my blog is very parent focused so looking at my children while I write my latest blog post will always bring out the best in me when I’m writing.
