Is It Possible to Renovate a Pop-Up Trailer on a Budget?

Pop-up trailers are sometimes referred to as pop-up campers. This is a kind of recreational vehicle that you tow behind you as you travel. You can collapse it for easy transport or storage.

You can get one with a functioning bathroom, a mess area, a mattress, or other features. You can easily find pop-up trailers for sale if the idea of owning one appeals to you. 

If you already have one, though, you might wonder whether it is possible to renovate it if you don’t have a lot of money to spend. We will talk about that right now.  

It’s Doable if You’re Handy and Creative

It’s possible to renovate or improve a pop-up trailer if you’re determined to do it, even if you don’t have much money. You’ll need to rely on some creative design elements and all of your DIY skills. 

Often, it helps to look at social media posts to see what others have done with their pop-up trailers. Platforms like Instagram and Pinterest are sometimes goldmines if you’re looking for ideas that won’t break the bank. 

The Bedroom Area

No pop-up trailer is very large, so you’ll need to be prepared to redecorate or improve a relatively small area. The bedroom nook takes up most of the space in the average pop-up trailer.

If yours looks drab, putting in some window treatments is one way to go. It won’t cost very much to get some gauzy material and to hang it over the windows the same way you would in a house or apartment bedroom. 

You can also put some throw pillows on the bed. You can find some at Target or Walmart if you can’t afford a higher-end store. 

Think About a Colour Scheme

When you don’t have a ton of space, you need to pay attention to what colours you are installing. To make a pop-up camper space seem brighter and airier, you’ll want to steer away from dark colours. Lighter colours for the curtains, sheets, and pillowcases should serve you well.

You might also go for a more exotic colour scheme, like royal purple or scarlet. Try to think about a colour that makes you happy and in which you would like to ensconce yourself.

Look for Water Damage

Once you’ve taken care of the aesthetics, you’ll need to focus on the practical. With many older pop-up trailers, you’ll have to deal with water damage. Tap on the floor and walls to see if any of the materials need to be replaced.

If the floorboards seem spongy, you can pull those off with a crowbar and install new ones. Some sturdy plywood should not cost you very much.

If the walls seem warped, that likely means you’ll need to replace those as well. Vinyl siding usually works well. You can use a pair of sturdy shears to cut the pieces into the sizes you need.

Once that’s done, your pop-up trailer should look better, and you will not have spent very much money.
