Learning behaviour from parents
It’s quite fascinating to see how R&M’s prefence changes from mummy to daddy on a regular basis during one hour, let alone a day or a week.
The girls are now just over three years old and from very early on R was always more for mummy and M for daddy. There’s no reason why, but with twins you just seem to be more involved with one or another and that only really applies to certain parts of the day. R has always gone to sleep with her mummy and M goes to sleep with me.
The girls are beginning to learn some new tricks to be able to get what they want. It’s the old trick of ask daddy, daddy says no, so they immediately start moaning and quick as a flash they are off to ask mummy this unfortunately is becoming a common occurrence!
So I ask myself the question and I am sure my wife would agree when we are on our own with them, 95% of the time they are angels, but add in the extra parent and they can be nightmares!
I am beginning to think that even as young as three years old they are learning to manipulate their parents and you would think we would be clever enough to stop this, but no we fall into their trap every time!
This week my wife and myself have not felt very well and this is where the girls have shown a lovely side of their nature by playing together and jumping all over us as they usually do!
So even though they are learning to misbehave they are also learning to be well behaved.
It never ceases to amaze me how quickly these new traits in characters and personalities develop and I wonder how many are inherited from their mummy and daddy. I often see them do things and I think that’s exactly how my wife does it or that’s how I do things so inherited may be the wrong. Are they infact learning by simply copying.
I have noticed in the last month or so the use of words that either my wife or me use on a regular basis that we constantly use so I make sure I don’t swear as they learn quick at three years old!
Overall, we have two very well behaved girls that are learning the most valuable lesson of all. To be kind to and love others and I believe because my wife and I show our love for each other, the girls learn that this is how you should be with the ones you love.
