Let There Be Light! Try These Creative Lighting Ideas At Home

March 5, 2020

Lighting is easily one of the most important parts of any home that always seem to end up getting forgotten. This is probably down to just how easy it is to take the lighting in your home for granted. If you want to get a little more from the lighting in your home, or perhaps you just want to use it to give your home a little-added personality, here are some creative lighting solutions that you might never have considered.

Create DIY lamps

There are few things more frustrating than finding a piece of home decor that you really love, only to go to a friend’s house and see that everyone else has the exact same thing! If you’re trying to light your home while keeping it exciting and interesting then why not make things unique by creating your own lamps? The basic design of a lamp is actually far more simple than people might expect. The wiring is certainly one of the more simple options out there, and once you have that, you can pretty much make it out of anything. As long as you have a bulb, a power supply, and way a to connect them, then there really isn’t a limit to what you can do. You can use wine bottles, old books, even a tree stump!

Light up unusual places

A lot of the time when people think about lighting they think about most of the obvious places. You’re going to need lights on your bedside table and by your couch. You want to make sure that you’re lighting the room as a whole, but for the most part, the kinds of places people put lights and lamps can be fairly predictable. If you want to do things a little differently then why not light up some unusual places. You can buy LED strip lights that allow you to light up the inside of cabinets, around bookshelves and even underneath tables. That way you can still bring plenty of light into a room but without having to do things the same way as everyone else.

Think about colour

It’s a pretty well-established rule that lights should always be white. There are variations of course such as Bedroom LED Strip Lights which can give a awesome look to any bedroom, while bathrooms and kitchens benefit from colder lights. But what about the rest of the colour spectrum? There are so many amazing options for lighting your home that far too often go unused. Things like a LEpro Smart GU10 LED bulb allow you to control the color of your bulbs with your Amazon Echo. Now, this is something you want to be careful about. Using too much colour is going to make rooms feel very strange and potentially uncomfortable. But replacing one of your lighting options with something more colourful and combining it with more standard lighting can bring a fantastically unique ambiance to any room.

There really are no limits to the ways in which you can light your home or your garden. All you need to do is to experiment and try to come up with what works best for you. Try new things and don’t be afraid of it not working properly, after all, the worst that could happen is that you don’t like it and then you get to try something else.
