Making Sure Your Internet Speed Is Right For Your Home
We are hopefully going to be moving home soon and of course there will be many things to organise and the new property that we hope to move to will need quite a lot of updating. Of course there will be the job of getting the right suppliers of our energy and one very important thing that the new property will need in today’s technological world will be a broadband internet supplier.

When deciding on your internet connection supplier there are a number of things that you need to keep in mind. For instance, you will need to consider what type of connection you actually want and what your budget is. You will also need to find out what is available in your area, for example, in rural locations, satellite internet may be your only option. If this is the case, it’s important to ask yourself the question “how does satellite internet work?” before you make your final decision. Finally, you have to decide exactly what your internet connection will be needed for in the home.
Like many people’s homes the internet is used for many different reasons. Of course a lot of pressure is put upon it if you have children and more importantly teenagers. So many teenagers today are gamers and are constantly downloading new games, and we all know that teenagers have a limited amount of patience. So when looking for an internet supplier you want a supplier that will offer the best speed test results, so downloads are downloaded quickly and if one of your children is gaming the last thing you want is them moaning that there is no time lag as that’s sure to put your teenage child in a bad mood.
So if you have decided which supplier of the internet you are going to use, check that the internet speeds they claim that you are paying for you actually what you are getting. Well you can find out very quickly by doing an internet speed check. It’s really simple.
1. Checking Your internet Speed
To check your internet speed just google internet speed and many options will come up. A particularly good internet speed checker is www.speedcheck.org. You will be asked to start the test and really it’s very simple.
2. What does an internet speed check find out
When you do an internet speed check it will carry out a multitude of tests that will check your download, upload and latency, also know as ping. The download speed is related to how quickly you can receive data from the internet. The upload data is how quickly you can upload data to the internet. The latency or ping is how quickly the data takes to arrive at its destination and the server is able to acknowledge that the data package has been received.
3. Why it’s important to check your internet speed
It’s so important to check your internet speed for the many different reasons that you will use the internet in your home. If you are only browsing the the internet occasionally then the speed doesn’t need to be that fast, but if like in my home where both my wife and I work from home and are consistently on a laptop, also adding in children who are gamers, we need a solid fast internet speed to cope with everything.
Another reason to check your internet speed is to make sure that what your supplier is delivering is the internet speed you are paying for because if it’s not then you can go back and ask why.
Have you checked your internet speed in your home and been pleasantly surprised that what you are paying for you are getting or sadly it’s not even close to the internet speed you are paying for? I would love to hear your experiences in the comments below.
