Me and Fathers Day

June 18, 2016

Father’s Day is the one day in the year where I am centre of attention, which if I’m honest makes me uncomfortable. I have always been the type of person that likes to stand in the shadows.

As regular readers of my blog probably know I have five children so Father’s Day is always special, but this year it is a bittersweet day.

Over the last 20 years I have always been with my children on Father’s Day which as a dad makes my year. It’s the one day where my all five of my children are together in one room. What more could a dad ask for? It’s a very special moment.
This year due to circumstances it will be a bit different. My 20 year old daughter is going to be on holiday in Europe and my 18 year old daughter will be in Southampton because she is on work placement for her child nursing university course. Of course I’m sure I will speak to them both and that will be great, but it’s not quite the same as having all five of my children in the same room.
The thing is it shows that they are all growing up and carving out their own lives and that’s really ok, but it just makes me wonder where all the time has gone in front of me, most likely without noticing my children are growing up and eek! I’m getting older.

On Father’s Day I will be thinking about my two children I won’t see, but enjoying my day with the three that will be.
I love you all so very much xx

Hope you have a lovely day. I am sure the two absents will be thinking of you. You are right, they are growing up and do their own stuff #justanotherlinky

Happy Father's Day! Have a lovely day, even though you are not all together. You are safe in the knowledge that you have done a great job as a dad, because they're spreading their wings and being successful 🙂 Alison #justanotherlinky

Hope you had a lovely day! It must have been hard not to see them but it's great to understand they are carving their own lives out. Thanks for linking up to #JustAnotherLinky xx
