Mummy Needs a Break: Signs Your Wife Could Use Your Help

August 27, 2019

Your wife is like a superhero. Despite what’s going on, she manages to get up every single day and see to it that you and your children are loved and cared for. You love and appreciate her for that, and hopefully, find ways to express it. Yet, what may be hard for some men to see, is when his wife needs a break.

Women, believe it or not, are very good at hiding their emotions – especially when it comes to their family. They find the strength from deep down to get through each day while neglecting their own needs. While some may reach a point where they say, “Hey honey, I need your help”, most will suffer in silence.

As the husband, it’s your job to pick up on these points and hear the silent cries of your wife. How can you tell when a woman so strong needs assistance? You can tell mummy likely needs a break if you’ve witnessed any of the following:

She’s Moody

To the average guy, a woman may seem moody all the time, however, you’ll notice a difference between typical emotions and something more serious. She might be happy one minute and sad the next, her temper might be short and she may start arguments with you or snap at the kids more often. You might notice her crying for what seems like no reason at all. These are signs that she’s emotionally overwhelmed and may need a break.

She’s Always Tired

Sleep deprivation for parents is common, but chronic fatigue could be a sign of something more serious going on. Your wife could be suffering from depression or another health issue that requires her to just take and break and focus on herself. If you notice she’s falling asleep just about anywhere or dragging even after sleeping for 8 hours, this is a sign that dad needs to step in.

She’s Booked

Has it gotten to the point that you have to pencil an appointment to spend some time alone with your wife? Is your family calendar filled with tasks and events that keep her on her toes a lot? When your wife is so booked that she’s on the run from sun up to sundown, you should probably ask her how you can lighten her load.

She’s Self-Medicating

The physical and emotional overwhelm that sometimes comes with being a mother can result in a woman self-medicating. You may notice that her usual glass of wine with dinner has turned into the whole bottle or that she’s taking more and more pills to relieve pain or get to sleep. As self-medicating can quickly lead to dependency and addiction you not only need to step in and help with the day to day responsibilities but you may need to see about checking your wife into a Newport Beach rehab for women to overcome addiction.

She’s Stopped Caring About Her Health

Is your wife skipping meals? Binge-eating junk food? Has she stopped doing yoga and meditation? When your wife stops caring about her physical and emotional health, this is a serious cry for help. She’s become so emotionally overwhelmed that her health is the least of her worries.

She’s Stopped Doing Things She Enjoys

What husband doesn’t love to see his wife’s smile? To see the woman of his dreams doing things that make her happy? So, if you notice that she’s skipping out on events she used to love, avoiding her friends, or not interested in being around family members too much she could be dealing with depression

You love your wife and believes she’s amazing. You watch her single-handedly do so much for you and the kids without ever skipping a beat. Though she enjoys her role as wife and mother, however, the pressures and demands a woman is under can sometimes cause her to need a helping hand. As her husband, it’s your job to recognize these signs and be the knight in shining armor that steps in to save the day. Whether it be giving her the day off, taking on more chores and school-related responsibilities, getting her medical treatment, or just pushing her to show more interest in her passions, be the kind of man that helps lift his woman back up from the trenches.
