My blog achievements so far

I started my blog just 15 months ago and when I started it, I’m not sure I had  any goals or targets that I wanted to achieve. In the early days I just wanted to write good content. It was important to write about my life and I wanted this corner of the Internet for me to chronicle my children’s lives in the hope that just maybe they will look at it one day and enjoy reading it.

 

I am the sort of character that likes to make a success of any anything I do and I generally never give up until I have. It’s the competitive nature in me and my day job as a self-employed painter/decorator  is a good example of this. I have worked hard for many years and I now have at any given time three months worth of work in front of me. Which gives me a lot satisfaction.

Back to my blog and it has progressed nicely. I have always tried to post new content on a very regular basis, but there has always been a number of things that over and above the content that I wanted to achieve. In the last couple of weeks I feel like that as far as statistics are concerned has finally turned a corner.

Tots 100 is one of these. I always felt that getting into the Top 500 was a good way to determine how well I was doing and finally I am in the Top 500, yay!

Domain authority was also important to me and again in the last two weeks that has risen to mid twenties, not as high as many, but a real achievement for me.

My klout score is 70, which again I have worked hard to increase and 70 I am very happy with. In fact I hit 72 for a day for two, but klout is strange.

I am in the Top 50 in the Rise Parent blogger charts and I’m very proud of this.

When I started blogging I had two followers on Twitter. A few days ago I passed 4,000 followers. I never in my widest dreams expected that to happen.

Facebook and Instagram are growing steadily, but will need a little more attention in the future.

Blogging for me is a journey of self discovery. I write about so many things that have been locked away for years including the good times, but most importantly the bad times. It’s a form of therapy.

I have always wanted to engage my readers and in the last month I felt this is happening with the amount of comments I have been getting for different posts and in particular one post I wrote received over 75 comments. Never did I think that would happen. It’s very humbling that people take the time to comment. 

I have been asked to feature on other blogs and websites which I have always found hard to believe that I am being asked, but it’s incredibly flattering because I sometimes question my writing.

Do I have a post that I am proud of? I have many where I have thought, yes that’s good, but one post which sticks out for me is a deeply personal post about my relationship with my biological father. It was completely written from raw emotion.

My blog ambitions are the same as ever. To enjoy writing because I have always had a passion to write and blogging has given me the avenue to fulfill my passion. I’d also like to grow the blog gradually and continue to write good content and hope that the people who read it enjoy what I have written.
