My daughter is going to university in a few days
The time is nearly here after numerous university road trips, many days of worrying about exam results to finally get a unconditional offer to study at university.
In just a few days time my 18 year old daughter leaves for university approximately 140 miles from home.
My feelings are mixed. Yes I am so very proud and happy that she achieved going to university of which I know she will be successful because she is focused on what she wants, but also I am sad that she will no longer be around and it could be weeks, maybe months without seeing her. She is still my little girl and will never change and I will miss her.
This is her new adventure in life and where her life will be totally in her control and her success will all be down to her.
So in a few days time I shall be driving her down to her new home and I know now I will be emotional because it’s strange saying goodbye to my daughter knowing there will be a distance between us and it’s a big change for her, but also for me.
My simple message to E is to be safe at all times, enjoy your new adventure, work hard, play hard – well not too hard and always remember I am here for you at any time you need me. Love u lots dad xx
