My First Christmas Post

I love Christmas. It is easily my favourite time of the year. Having five children will always make it special, but unfortunately three of my children are now old enough to realise that Santa is not real, which I simply can’t understand as they are only 20,18 and 16 years of age! I’m certainly not going to tell them Santa is not real because he is!

Plans for our Christmas are already in full swing. A lot of the girls presents are already hidden around the house. My wife has already made the Christmas cake and we have already planned a couple of trips. 

The first trip is Bluestone Wales in the days leading up to Christmas. The girls will experience Kingdom of the Elves and while we are there they will have story-time with Santa and see a Cinderella pantomime. It will be fantastic! I only hope it snows as it will be perfect then!

We have also booked to see Santa at his grotto at our local garden centre. We went last year and the girls loved it.

Last year they had a Frozen theme so I’m looking forward to see what they going to do this year.

My 18 year old daughter who is in university will be coming home and I have missed her so I can’t wait to see her. I will be going down to university to pick her up and hopefully all my children will be with me on Christmas Day along with my mum and my beautiful wife. The most important people in my life.

Just recently I read a post about who children receive their Christmas presents from. We all say that that Santa only brings presents to good boys and girls which is fine, but if you have a lot of presents do you say that they’re are all from Santa or do you say some are from mummy and daddy because of course some people cannot afford lots of presents and will their child then think they haven’t been very good because another child they know has more presents than them. It’s a difficult decision.

Christmas  has a special meaning for me. I was brought up by my mother, who when i was a child, suffered from depression. As a result I became self sufficient at a young age.

My mum would always try her best at christmas, but if I am honest I don’t have many happy Christmas days to remember In fact one particular Christmas day when I was 12 years old my sister came for lunch as she no longer lived at home. My mother got very drunk and ended up in bed and my sister left to be with her boyfriend. I vividly remember sitting on my own watching Christmas television all night. So to have the most precious people around me on Christmas Day makes me feel complete and very happy.
