Never Forget: My Sunday Photo
If you have ever read my blog you will know that I have five children. Sadly through death and circumstances beyond my wife and I’s control, our six year old twin girls only have one grandparent in their life which is my mum their nana. Sadly my mother is in the twilight of her life and I truly hope she is around long enough that the girls have good solid memories of her, just like my three older children do.
Yesterday we decided to go to the crematorium where my wife’s mum was laid to rest over 10 years ago now which of course is the girls other nana.
Sadly they didn’t get the chance to meet her because she passed away many years before the girls were born. As such they have absolutely zero memories because they didn’t know her, but it’s important that they never forget that their mum had a mum. My wife can tell them all about their nana. They may not have memories, but at least they can have some idea of what she was like. Through the eyes and memories of their mum.
Although their one nana is no longer physically with us, our girls say that she is in the sky, and she lives on in their mum in her heart and her memories and her mind and for me it’s important they know that their is a history behind them being born. It’s a big picture of your life that involves those still with us and those that are not and to never forget those that have passed, because they still have a importance in their lives.
My Sunday Photo this week is my six year old twin girls holding the flowers that we are going to lay down for their nana.

Such a tough one Nigel. My kids lost a grandparent earlier this year and the one thing they wanted to do was leave flowers on his grave. No bad thing for your twins to be aware of the grandparents they no longer have. they need to know how important she was to Emily. Poignant shot Nigel.

So sad. My girls only have one grandparent with us and can just to say remember my fella’s mam & dad. They didn’t know my mother. x

How lovely, it’s important to know where you come from I think, so we always chat about the the great grandparents my children didn’t ever get to meet! #sundayphoto

It’s important to keep their memory going even if the girls never met

I think those memories whether in life or death are so so important for children. My children have all their biological grandparents still with us, but their step-grandad passed away when Leah was only 2 and Lewis 5. Neither have memories because they were so young but we have videos and photos for memories. Always important for children to know of their extended family.
