Our Family Holiday to Menorca 2015 part 2

July 16, 2015

In the first part of my holiday review I reviewed the hotel we stayed in.

In this post I will be talking about our holiday and what we did while we were staying at Hotel Victoria Playa.

Before going on holiday I had some ideas about what I wanted to get out of it. One of the most important things for me was to have real quality time with my family.
On arriving at our hotel we were all very excited, but tired and hungry so the first thing to do was to get our bags to our rooms and go straight down to the restaurant for dinner. It was very rushed, but worth it as the food was lovely.

We had a little wander around the hotel and decided to have an early night.
Our first day was early to breakfast and then a day by the pool which I thought the girls would love. What I found amazing was that I had to go down before breakfast to reserve sun loungers with our towels. I thought it was a thing of the past, but obviously not!

So the day started well with the mixture of children and adult pools, but I have to be honest the girls got bored quite quickly so after a few hours we decided to give them some playtime at the park which they seemed much more excited about!

We had lunch and the girls had an afternoon nap and we had some more pool time before dinner.
Our evening entertainment I have to admit I had quite big expectations of this and felt totally let down. The Thomson entertainment reps were amateurish and poorly trained. They seemed to be all influenced by Haven camps in this country. We had paid a lot of money for the holiday and this really was appalling entertainment so after one night I felted very let down. It certainly couldn’t get any worse unfortunately at times it did.
We decided that the beach might be a better option for the girls on day two and how right were we. We had a beach tent for the girls and hired ourselves an umbrella and two sun loungers. The girls absolutely loved it. Building sand castles, burying themselves and paddling in the sea. The sea was fantastically warm and beautifully clean. We were there for hours and time just flew by. This was beginning to feel like I was truly on holidays. Sun, sea and a beach. The girls loved it!

There were some highlights of our holiday the first of which was one evening the entertainment was a Disney night. R and M absolutely loved it. They were professional and up to date with all the latest Disney characters The girls didn’t take their eyes off the stage for two hours. It was a truly excellent nights entertainment. Unfortunately it was the only good night of entertainment in the seven days we were there.

The park area in the hotel was also a big hit with R and M. They quite happily played there for hours and I have to admit it initially worried me because the slides were quite high but the girls were fearless and eventually I was at ease watching them.

There was a soft play area which which R&M also enjoyed for hours one night.
One of the major benefits of all inclusive holiday with Thomson is all the drinks and sandwiches are free the girls definitely got a taste for slush puppy’s and if they got hungry the sandwiches from 11 o’clock were perfect to keep them going.

Overall the holiday lived up to everything I expected and would give it a mark of 9/10 the mark down was due to the very poor entertainment reps and the food becoming repetitive after a few days, but for all of that I wouldn’t hesitate in booking with Thomson again.

Sounds like a lovely place for a family holiday, shame about the entertainment though. Thanks for linking up with #summerdays

The Disney night sounds great, I know that my youngest would have loved that too! #SummerDays
