Regular readers of my blog will know that I have five children and of those children I have five year old twins. Watching twins is without question fascinating and at times bewildering,. It’s almost as if they have their own world and then they join our world.

There is one thing that has really become quite noticeable, I’m not really sure why it’s happened, but it has.
R has definitely become her mummy’s mini me.
Whenever mum turns around, R is right by her side. If my wife sits down, R sits right next to her.
I often joke with R and say things like mummy just fluffed and R is straight there in her defence saying, “no she didn’t!
My wife and I have recently had new scooters and my wife went to the park riding her scooter with the twins on their scooters too. When I got home from work I said to M did mummy fall off her scooter and M quickly said yes. R then jumped to her mummy’s defence and said “no she didn’t!

In fact anything I say, R will always defend her mum, whereas M is more likely to play along with my game, haha! At times I’m convinced if R could sit on her mum’s shoulder like a parrot she would, haha!
Recently she has started to wander off to a quiet corner of whatever room she’s in and fluff. I have then caught her giggling to herself. When I ask her what is making her giggle. She would reply, “I have fluffed and it’s really smelly!” followed by fits of laughter. This is just like her Mum! She fluffs which is followed by giggles.
M on the other hand will not have a word said against me and at times I think she has been superglued to my legs and she always wants to show me first whatever she has made or something she has learnt to do.
She often tells me she loves me and then gets very coy when telling her mum that she loves her. She says things like I poo poo you and then says that means I love you mum.

My wife and I have never, I believe treated the girls any differently and we both give them equal amounts of attention, so it’s fascinating how the girls have what almost looks like a chosen parent. Whenever they fall or hurt themselves R will go to her mum and M will come to me. There is no rhyme or reason for it, it just happens.
There was a time that both my wife and I have felt left out by this, but now that our twins are five we don’t take it personally because we obviously know the girls love us both equally.
Having twins as children is an amazing journey of discovery because it’s a very different bond that siblings have, but the most noticeable thing I find is that of course they can argue and not be friends or tell on each other, but it never lasts long and the twin bond is back and they are closer than ever.
I am really looking forward to the next few years to watch if this bond with each other gets stronger, and if they will alter the bonds they have with us, will they change parents. It is going to be a fascinating road of discovery.
Do you have twins? Is one twin more for one parent than the other? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Awww how lovely. The bond between twins is amazing isn’t it. It’s facinating to see. My daughter is our only child but if she wants to play she is all for daddy. If she falls over or wants cuddles she only wants me haha. #TriumphantTales

My kids have different favourite parents depending on what is happening – my 2yo will only let daddy unfasten her car seat and help her out of the car, but she will only let mummy tuck her into bed at night. #triumphanttales

This sounds just like our two as they each have a definite favourite between The Hubby and I. I always thought it was just the age old “mummy’s boy / daddy’s girl” thing. It’s fascinating to see you have the same with your gorgeous twin girls. Thanks for linking to #DreamTeam x

I’m the process of watching twins grow up. I have twin nephews who will be one at the start of August. Already you can see that they love each other to bits. It must be incredible to have a sibling who will be so close. And your girls are just adorable. Thanks so much for linking up to #TriumphantTales – hope to see you again on Tuesday!
