Our Twin Girls Their Bond Has Got Stronger Through Lockdown

The sibling bond is very strong and for most people it is quite likely to be the strongest bond that we will experience in our lifetimes as well as being the most constant relationship that we will ever have in our lifetime.

When I became a dad of twin girls about eight years ago my initial thoughts were how will we cope with two babies at one time. What I never thought at the time was how I would see how strong the twin bond is.

The twin bond is something that is truly unique, beautiful and if I’m honest, my understanding of it is limited because I’m not a twin, but I have been blessed with twin girls and watching them and their very special relationship is something that leaves me in awe of them and almost wishing I was a twin.

What makes the twin bond so special is that they enter the world within a few minutes of each other and they experience all of life’s milestones at the same time. That in itself must be very special.

During the last three to four months of lockdown I have noticed something very special happen between our twin girls. It’s that twin bond. Although it has always been very strong, the last few months has seen the bond they share grow even stronger. The main reason behind this is of course they have only had each other to play with and entertain each other, but watching this twin sibling relationship evolve has been absolutely magical to watch.

Over the last few months I have watched them make up games together, have chats together and most importantly laugh together and on occasion breaking into fits of uncontrollable hysterical laughter.

The sibling bond is of course strong but when there is an age difference you have the problem that children won’t enjoy the same games and invariably one or both end up getting frustrated. With twins you never really get that because twins are emotionally and intellectually on the same level so the chances are they will enjoy the same games and enjoy making up similar games.

Throughout lockdown I can count on one hand how many arguments they have had. It’s been so wonderful just watching them interact and totally enjoy each other’s company 24/7.

The twin bond really is a very special bond and the lockdown due to covid-19 has given my twin girls a bond that I believe will never be broken. They will grow up and become adults and I know they will not only be twin sisters, they will also be the best of friends that they can rely on and they always love and help each other which is a massive positive in this pandemic.

The twin bond is very special and a bond that will never be broken by anything or anybody.
