Pride In My Daughter E What Wonderful Text I Received
My 21 year old daughter is now carving out her life in another city to where I live, it’s not quite what I thought would happen when I remember her being a little girl and starting school, but you at some point start living your own life and making your own decisions about exactly how you want to live your life. I know did at around her age.

Even though we live a two hour drive apart we are still as close as ever and the other day she texted me which had an image attached to it was this. I was actually very overcome when I read this, the feeling of pride and love as a dad for my daughter brought a tear to my eye, I have always managed to cry happy tears. When it comes to my children, and they really are happy tears. I am for once actually lost for words, but I will do my best to put into words what this means to me as a father.
Three years ago she left her hometown to study to become a nurse a shy and possibly quiet and not particularly confident person. To carve out a life and career for herself. This was a very sad day for me because I knew that my daughter had grown up and was very unlikely to return to her hometown. I always knew that when my daughter E left for university that was it she would be very unlikely to live at home again.
All of that is fine, why you may ask because she has made me happy she is following her path in life, she dealing with obstacles that life can put in your way on her own, it must a struggle at times, but she is trying and that makes me proud of her.

My darling daughter you have picked a tough university course but my goodness didn’t you shine brighter than a star. A degree in nursing with first class honours all of your hard work paid off. You have started working in paediatric assessment ward dealing with sick babies and children which must be an emotional rollercoaster at the best of times but you are doing a fantastic job and I’m sure you will continue to as you settle into your new life, you are making a difference and not all of us can say that.
I have never had anything but admiration for the way you go after something and make it happen and this is most recent example. My pride and love for you is bursting out of me for you. Love you lots Dad xx

This is such a beautiful post. Well done to you as a parent and to your daughter for achieving all her dreams. I cried last month when my son started school – don’t know how I’ll be when he leaves for University!

Gorgeous post and what a lovely, heartfelt message to give to your daughter. My two are both under five, so even just trusting my eldest to run down the road without holding onto me, is as far as I’ve got to letting go at this point…I can’t imagine what it’ll be like to actually let them go and lead their own lives. Gulp #itsok

Oh my word. I know a paediatric nurse or two. Talk about going in at the deep end! I would be incredibly proud to Nigel. I know the day will come when my kids leave home and follow their own path and my word will I have a tear in my eye. Who am I kidding, I’ll be sobbing for weeks. If they come back with a first class honours degree in anything though, I’ll be happy!

You must be so proud! She must have done really well and worked so hard to come away with a first. It always kinda gets to me that the ideal end game to parenting is to raise children who grow to be independent adults !! #blogcrush
