Renovating an ornate garden table and chairs

August 27, 2015

Being a painter and decorator means that I sometimes get asked to do unsual jobs. One such job was asked of me recently.

I was asked to renovate a metal garden table and chair set. It’s over 30 years old and was in need of some serious TLC!
The first job was to pressure wash the table and chairs and remove all of the old loose paint.
I then painted all the chairs and the table in ‘Hammerite Direct to Rust’ paint in brilliant white and as you can see the result is fantastic!

It looks like new and Hammerite guarantees 7 seven years for the paint.

To buy a garden table and chair set like this it would cost many hundreds of pounds and I do wonder if it would be made to last 30 years like this one has!

The amount of paint used was 2 litres at a cost of £38.50.

Looks fantastic! Did you only have to do one coat or did it take a couple? Great revamp, Becky #MakingHome
