Summer fun with Techniquest Science Discovery Centre
With the summer holidays imminent, we visited Techniquest during term-time to give you a glimpse of what’s on offer this summer. As I shared on my blog earlier this month, inspired by the new Disney Lightyear movie, Techniquest are hosting Lightyear Inspired workshops.

Techniquest has long been a popular tourist attraction in Cardiff for people of all ages. The science discovery centre features a whole host of exhibits and science shows to inspire young and old minds.
In more recent times, Techniquest has had a makeover with lots of new and exciting exhibits being added. One of the most talked about new exhibits is the giant slide that overlooks the newer exhibits.

Don’t worry though, Techniquest still has some of the older exhibits. From the water table and giant piano to the hot air balloon and more. Techniquest really does have something to offer all ages.
On our recent visit, we created fireworks, tested our strength in many ways from seeing how long we could hold our bodyweight up to seeing how long we could hang from a bar.

We rode a bike to learn about healthy and unhealthy foods and how much exercise is needed to burn the calories off of the food we’ve eaten.
We tested our minds by trying to remove rope from a structure and balance long poles on other long poles. The highlight for us though was two of the new exhibits. The hurricane and earthquake. Standing in front of what can only be described as a giant fan, we felt the force of a hurricane, which admittedly was a lot of fun.
In addition, we stood on a platform and felt the impact of an earthquake. My 10 year old twins definitely enjoyed those two exhibits the most!
So what are you waiting for? For more information visit the Techniquest website.
