Wicked Uncle Toy Review

May 10, 2016
Wicked uncle are an online toy shop that offer Christmas and birthday presents for girls and boys, as well as gifts for any event with several gift wrappings, as well as cards and experience gifts.

I was recently provided with a £40 credit to browse their site and buy something to review. The website was easy to use with products divided into age and gender categories. You can also search via the type of thing you’re looking for such as ‘adventurer, fashion & style, role play etc’.

Our twin girls are four years old and are quite into the idea of magic at the moment. For that reason I chose to review Marvin’s Magic Showtime set, which is priced at £26.95. I also chose a Giant Box of Animal Stencils to review as the girls love arts and crafts. This is priced at £12.95.

Wicked Uncle have a few different magic sets available, but the reason I chose this one is because it’s aimed at children aged 4+. A lot of the other ones were for older children. One of the things I like about the Wicked Uncle website is that at the bottom of the page for each product there is a box which displays information about why they think the recipient will like that particular product, but they also have information about the technical side of the product too. This was really helpful in helping me chose which products to pick.

Marvin’s Magic Showtime set has all you need to perform your very own magic show. Inside you’ll find: a hand puppet rabbit, magic painting theatre, secret magic box, the incredible ball and vase illusion, mystery rising cards, magic picture book, magic wand and an instruction leaflet which tells you how to do each trick.

Everything was packaged really well and the items included are quite large making them easy for little hands to hold. It wasn’t long before R and M had mastered the secret magic box trick. For this trick you pop four different coloured ribbons into the box and close it before waving your magic wand over the box and saying some magic words. When you open the box, the ribbons have mysteriously disappeared!

I think this was the girls favourite trick, plus it was also one of the easiest. Another of their favourites is a card trick where you ask someone to choose a card, mix them all up and then lay them face down. Amazingly the rabbit then picks up the correct card!

Overall, this is a really good introduction to magic set. All of the props are well made, the instructions are clear and children will love it! 10/10!

The Giant Box of Animal Stencils has proven pretty popular with our twins. As well as including 120 animal stencil shapes, one letter and number stencil, you also get 6 colouring pencils, a sharpener, plus 20 animal design sheets of paper. I love that this set provides you with paper that you can use to draw your stencils on. There’s nothing worse than having stencils with no paper!

The stencils are all different colours which makes them very appealing to children, plus they’re really easy for kids to use. The animals are all easily identifiable too.

I think the girls favourite stencil is the letter and number one at the moment. That’s probably because we do a lot of practising letter and number formations at home, but the girls loved the animal ones too.

The stencils are durable so they’ll last a very long time. Overall, this is a great stencil set. 10/10!

Overall, we’re very pleased with both items we received for review and I would definitely recommend Wicked Uncle. The items are good value for money and delivery was quick too!
