World Book Day With My 5 Year Old Twin Girls

February 26, 2018

It’s World Book Day on March 1st and my five year old twin girls are getting ready for it along with thousands of other children up and down the country.

Their primary school every year makes a big effort to celebrate World Book Day. It’s almost part of their curriculum. The children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite character from their favourite book, and my five year old twin girls love to get in the spirit of celebrating in dressing up.

My five year old twin girls are without question complete opposites, and when you see what they picked to dress up as, this will become plainly obvious to everyone.

I have teamed up this World Book Day With eBay, which is an awesome online marketplace where you can buy a huge selection of costumes. Our girls were lucky enough to pick costumes that they would like to dress up as. The selection is massive nowadays.

One of our girls decided to be Fantastic Mr Fox, and her sister decided she wanted to be Little Red Riding Hood. As I said they couldn’t be more different, but that’s what is wonderful about twin girls. I love their individuality, and they quite simply don’t just follow each other. They may be twins, but they’re also individuals in their own right even at just five years old.

As I mentioned already, eBay is an online marketplace, and with World Book Day about to hit every school in the UK they have revealed that Harry Potter is number 1 for the fourth year with an amazing 35 searches per minute, and this is over double the amount that second place, Dorothy, received with 14 searches per minute. Here are the top five searches:

1. Harry Potter

2. Dorothy

3. Peter Rabbit

4. Alice in Wonderland

5. Peter Pan

With a total of 7,000 searches in 2018, it’s very obvious that parents are being inspired and trying to get the best materials for the perfect costume for March 1st, World Book Day.

My beautiful twin girls, I’m hoping are going to steal the show as Fantastic Mr Fox and Little Red Riding Hood, but if they don’t I will still be the proudest dad in the world on the playground on March 1st 2018 World Book Day.

Do your children dress up as their favourite character for World Book Day? I would love hear who their favourite is.

This is a collaborative post.

My kids’ school has never bothered with the dressing up side of World Book Day until this year, so we’ve been well and truly caught out! Fortunately, I think we can cobble something together with stuff from home, but I know where to look online if not!

Great costumes! World Book Day always terrifies me because I have a great track record of messing up the costumes. Ebay can clearly take the stress out of the situation.

This is so awesome. We don’t celebrate this in our schools but I think it is a wonderful celebration. I might just start this in our school next year! Your girls are gorgeous and just love the outfits! I hear you with different personalities, I have 4 – no twins though but my kids are all completely different! Enjoy it and thanks for the great read.
