Yes! Yes! I Have Won An Award: Working Dad Of The Year
At the beginning of the year I wrote a post about what I would like to possibly achieve with my blog.

I don’t make any particular plans, but there was a number of things that I hoped I could build upon. Back in 2017 I was lucky enough to be named in the charts and there is no doubt I would like to achieve that in 2018.
I was also a finalist in the Blogosphere annual awards, which sadly I did not win, but this gave me a taste of what it would it feel like to win an award. I also wanted to start a new series interviewing some of the top parenting bloggers in UK today. This is well and truly started as the third interview is released tomorrow.
As I have already said I had been very close to winning an award so something that I really wanted in 2018 was to win an award and yes, that’s exactly what I have done. I saw the Pitman SuperAchievers awards online and thought that sounds interesting. I mentioned it to my wife and quite honestly forgot all about it. That was until a few weeks later I received a notification on social media saying I had been shortlisted for SuperAchievers Working Dad of the year 2018. This was a huge shock.

Upon reading the nomination It quickly dawned upon me that my wife had put my name forward and my goodness what lovely things she had said about me. It brought a tear to my eye.
The award, although, not entirely based upon blogging is still very heavily leaned toward blogging as well as my day job as a painter/decorator, all in all making me a working dad because I share my time between both jobs. What I find particularly nice is that I am a blogger as a job as well as a hobby, so maybe blogging is finally being recognised as a job in the new digital world.
The award is decided by a panel and also a public vote. In truth once I saw the other dads in the shortlist, I didn’t think I stood a chance. I genuinely didn’t feel I was anywhere near them to qualify for the award.
So on the 20th April just gone, I received an email to say I had won. You really could have knocked me over with a feather! I was actually struggling to read it and believe it, but there it was in black and white for all to see. I have been a finalist a few times, but sadly always just missed out on winning, so winning was just an incredible feeling.
For me to achieve recognition for my work is so satisfying and makes all the hard work you put in so worthwhile. I’m very humbled to have won because the competition was very tough.
So this year if I did have a plan, not that I think I did, it has actually gone to plan! I started off the year by winning an award. It was definitely an aim of mine and my goodness the feeling is truly awesome.
Finally thank you to anybody that voted for me in the public vote, the panel of judges and of course Pitman. Also I would like thank anybody that takes the time to read my blog. Most importantly I would like to thank my wife Emily and my five children who between them winning this award would not have been possible, my love for you all is never ending x.
So I am currently the holder of the Pitman SuperAchievers Working Dad Of The Year 2018. Which I have to say makes me proud and so very happy, this is a big moment for me.

Sorry Nigel, would have commented sooner but the house move is taking up every spare moment! Anyway, well deserved. You are doing yourself down. Blogging is still work! Great achievement and make sure that award goes somewhere special for the world to see.
